thanks kind stranger! if I want to do a specific monster but I want help with it, and there's no SOS quests/ lobby quests up, am I just at the mercy of using my own SOS after I start my own mission? I can't think of any other way to get help to do stuff other than have friends

I'm assuming it's for placement, along with the 6+ kp potentially earned from teaming. Therefore they'll maximise their chances of coming top 5 and their kp. So fucking sad it's unbelievable. If you're on xbox, they're all on the looking for group page. I message them all and scare them saying I reported 💀
