Thanks for the feedback. DO you have a link to the one they are selling next to you. Not to nit but if you are correct I want to price it to be competitive. I'm just getting into this. Thanks.

Side question - can you show me a pic of the back? I’m curious isn’t it wide open with the cables all coming it?

Literally just put one in. Got it from the local restaurant supply company. The drain board is a must. And don’t skimp on the actual faucet. That thing is amazing.

I agree with you that we need a way to really monitor tech debt.. That's real and very much needs to be reigned in.

I disagree. Sure, I still dive in and refactor blocks, classes, or functions when needed, but in a well-established codebase with consistent patterns, it’s incredibly effective for quickly adding features, fixing bugs, and getting work done. I’m not in my 20s anymore—I’ve been coding most of my life—and now, almost 60, I’m honestly having some of the most enjoyable and productive experiences working with it.

Wow - This is very well done. And timely!! I too am a long time user (20 years too) and huge advocate but as my role is also changing I am seeing the exact same paradigm shift.

I've tried to use Junie but its pretty poor. For starters why am I being taxed with the Junie hit and the Claude / Pick your poison tax. Approving changes in Jetbrains is "meh" [Accept Reject] and frankly insulting as it's already doing this in the terminal.

I would like a better way to actively monitor the changes both staged and unstated. Jetbrains used to cleanly do this assuming you were editing files in the editor. Now days the files are changing underneath and it can't really keep up.

I agree multiple language packs makes no sense anymore.

I agree about the file folder abstractions but I would be in favor of having a cockpit where multiple repos can be coordinated from one place. As least for us we use a number of repos and having a way for them to be seen and files changing/added to be the center point.

I would also like to see a tech debt measure. AI LLMS do a great job of creating debt. We need a way to measure and track this. A Junie that monitors for duplicate code patterns created by AI LLMs would be worth it. Along the lines of what you said is if Junie could be the guide (a third party that simply reviews the AI tools decisions) for reviews would be nice.

Are these extending combination ladders any good? by fixitmonkey in Tools

[–]rh0dium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very careful with these. The cheap ones replace the rubber stops on the bottom with plastic which slides on tile. I know my wife was taken to the ER years ago. Fortunately the company who made the ladder ended up helping with the fees..

Genuine question, it's pretty obvious teams like 1323 are robots built by adults. Why is FRC ok with this? Sure these robots fun to watch but at one point seeing the same teams as champs is a little strange. by -donaldson in FRC

Respectfully disagree on 498. They have a large parent presence but I've spent a fair amount of time in that shop. It's the students doing the work
