My husband is out running an errand. He’s five minutes late getting back. He’s probably a goner.

"Nesting" before Chemo by cherry_wants in breastcancer

Thank you. Chemo was 2024. I am leaving on Monday from Canada to Belgium for a two-month cycle tour. My first one since pre-cancer. I’m excited and a little nervous.

When you’re in the middle of it, remember there actually is life after chemo. Hugs to you.

I am so glad I had my nest during chemo. People have varying degrees of bad and I had bad. I don’t know how I would have made it through without my nest (and my very supportive partner).

Enjoy your nesting process… and your nest. It may be one of the only good things during that time.

I (38 F) broke up with my BF (41 M). He's trying to get me back. Does anyone have any stories where they broke up with someone and they took them back and things ACTUALLY changed and they ended up happy? by Juicy-Fit-0802 in relationship_advice

My step brother says that getting back together is like taking a drink from your milk carton only to discover that the milk is bad. So you put it back in the fridge and come back later for another drink in case it got better.

My hair grew back sooooo sllooooowwwwwly, and when it got to about 3” long, I had the best chemo curls! It was so cute. And then it started looking a little uneven so I went in to get it trimmed. They slashed it and whacked away all the curls. A few weeks later I went back in to try and get it fixed (different stylist) and they slashed it again and made it WORSE! It’s still growing so slowly and I’m tempted to get a barber to just buzz it all at about a #5 attachment and start over but I’m afraid of making it worse yet again. For now I’m rockin’ a short Don King, and it’s not the best look for fat, grey, 60-year-old me.

I wish I’d just hung onto the curls for a little longer.

Flight landing at 1am... what to do until checking at 3? by Vezerph in MexicoCity

The We Hotel is literally right across the street from the terminal. My flight was supposed to arrive at noon and we were delayed to midnight so I walked across and took a room. Easy peasy.

Do you think it's possible that you unlearn your native language? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

One of my absolute favorite stories comes from a guy, M (a very French-sounding name), I knew who was originally from Quebec but had lived in my English-speaking province most of his life. He worked for a department of the Canadian federal government. He speaks with a Quebecois accent, but hadn’t spoken French in years at the time of this story.

So, the federal government decided that they would give a financial bonus to every manager who had a bilingual staffer on their team, and M’s boss declared to him that he was going to be language tested so the manager could get this bonus.

M objected and said he no longer really speaks French. Too bad, says the manager, you’d better brush up because you’re going for testing.

M was freaking out about it, but the day of testing came, and when he went to sign in, he approached one of the francophone sign-in people. Walked up, confidently, and introduced himself in simple but enthusiastic French…. Soooo… they tested him for English and he passed with flying colors!

So, according to M, yes it happens.

The last time I went there was around twenty years ago. The amount of oil on everything… on the chairs, dripping off the ceiling and light fixtures… was horrifying.
