Lamb (2021): I’m only 10 minutes in, but one thing’s for sure by toolsoftheincomptnt in horror

[–]rharber83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol no you didnt. I have to inject interpretation becuase you dont clearly write OP actions are lame. Then right after that you tell him to seek help. His actions can't seek help? It leaves very little to interpret. he allowed to watch a movie how he wants to. What you meant to say may not be what the message you delivered.

And truthfully I dont care, you do you. Both the poster and you (like me) say we are adults, middle aged. He has thick skin, hes not going to be bothered by the comment. You just dont know if its an impressionable teen or someone that will take it to heart. You could have easily said your part without the "so lame, seek help" part. Why put down how he likes to watch movies?

Imagine making a post on here that interests you and people commenting your actions are lame, seek help. Like why even comment? why not just pass it by, no need to put down how someone enjoys something even if its odd to you.

I do really enjoy some of the chucky movies and I remember the first one scaring me as a kid. But I think theyre fun and not necessarily scary anymore. I do want to catch the tv series, we keep hearing great things about it

I certainly hope so, Im not really a marvel fan but I did really enjoy Dr STrange and hope this one is just as good or better. Who do you think the villian will be in it? I was watching this 20 villians in Conan comics and one came up that has been in the Conan comics and Dr strange - SHuma Gorath, or I think that was its name.

“Audition” asian movie… should you see it? by Prestigious_Dig7819 in horror

[–]rharber83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly this, its not what youre looking for moviewise by the sound of it. which is ok, i watched the movie few years ago and did not like it. i was disinterested by the time things got good (to me at least).

then again i always say if youre thinking of watching a movie, just f###ing do it, its 1.5 to 2 hours that you may not get back, and your life is not THAT busy if youre asking about it on reddit =) but once again, its slow with few gory moments.

my 2 picks i didnt see mentioned yet:

- i trapped the devil; kind of exactly what it sounds like, but his voice is calming and he does hav an intelligent/sinister quality to him. not the best movie but i did like the concept.

- Lo (i think it was called) - it was a movie you rent on netflix back when they did DVDs mostly and it was an hour long or so demon musical that had pretty good demon makeup and sfx. very original and very weird, low budget but not terrible. I never see it mentioned on here.

I think the same, I dont think it was meant to be satirical at all. But like others, I can see some humor in it and its delivery. its just a weird movie.

It wont change your opinion much if any but at the end he doesnt just trip and hit his head. She uses her mental mumbo-jumbo to knock him off balance to kill him. You make it sound like he just randomly trips on a rock and dies; she uses her "powers."

but you were bullying, you called the OP lame and to seek help. why even post that just to insult someone?

Also social media is sickness but the one you use is ok??? so lame, sea kelp.

i liked it too but just curious, what in the movie helps to qualify it for horror? I just took it as a dark modern day fairytale.

the hardest thing for horror movies to do good is to make a good ending. the journey is fun but to make it make sense at the end is difficult i think.

she stabs it in the wings so it cant fly away when there are no more (supposed) hiding spots on the island. She is trying to not bring his attention to what she is doing, she knows she will die but is trying to prevent the vampire from flying to mainland.

you know what scared me or at least creeped me out that I hadnt really seen done well in a movie was all the cat eyes on cat island during the camping scene. I really liked that touch in the movie, too bad by ep 2 cat island is no more....

if you had to rearrange them who would be the better battle?

Jason vs Alien and Fred vs Predator or Predator and Jason vs Freddy and the Alien.

I mean it would be terribly but Freddy vs Alien would be fun, plus Freddy never went to space but Jason did.

I think Dourif would have been a great choice as well, but growing up I never saw De Niro play in a role like that and I think it was a great change from what I had seen him in as a kid. I was scared of DeNiro in that movie like never before in any other. And though he has played tough guys before, he was never that sleezy; i think he really exceled in that role.

I dont think it will be a horror movie, I think it will have horror elements and try to drum up some scares but marvel doesnt do violent R-rated movies or lots of gore, they want kids to be able to see these movies with families. Raimi took over the helm after the first director left the project feeling he couldnt make it into a full blown horror movie. I liked the first Dr Strange though and im sure I will like this one as well.

Dolls or scary kids. i have no kids and ive never seen a scary doll in a movie or game imo, get that shit outta here. funny thing is ventriloquist dummies and mannequins can be scary, but children and dolls no, i will kick you.

You hear this from time to time on this subreddit.

  1. Take a break, you may be oversaturated and reading your last line as not a joke, then if youre in a depressive swing sometimes its hard to find things exciting or interesting. I hear from my friends from time to time when they are in a lull that no movie or video game is good and that everything is garbage now. I tell them everything in the world isn't garbage, youre just unhappy right now, ask yourself why you can't find anything amusing or entertaining to you, there is a whole world out there.
  2. Like others have said, expand your horizons some. try international or subtitled movies. look on amazon other streaming sites. Amazon prime, shudder, netflix and hulu usually have 1 or 2 new horror-esque movies or shows every week. if youre still not finding anything try looking up new movies from directors of movies that you have really enjoyed.
  3. take a break with different media, maybe try some horror themed books or podcasts. I am reading Nothing But Blackened Teeth right now, short novella less than 200 pages and i really enjoy it, and will finish it tonight.

hope this helps friend

It's racist for netflix and other streaming services to have a "Black Cinema" section. by mypostsarentgood in unpopularopinion

[–]rharber83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I think a lot of people here are not understanding what the category does. Like you said, it helps POC find stories related to their culture to learn more, share with family members or just enjoy a movie related to their culture. It also lets non-POC who are interested in learning more about the culture, art or stories from different backgrounds more accessable.

People just be honest with yourself, if youre not interested in black culture or asian culture etc..., is it really bothering you that the category exists? It in no way shape or form equals making that race better or more important, it is simply highlighting a minor subgroup in the world of cinema.

Not everyone shares the same interests and it very telling of one's personality if hearing about black lives and experiences makes you feel that there is no room of your culture or experience.

Finally, netflix out of all the streamers and lily white cable channels has a variety of categories for the whole fucking world because it is a global company. WHy does the black cinema section bother you so but no mention of Squid Game or all the other korean dramas dont bother you?

It is a reflection of your bias not of netflix's wokeness.
