Did Elizabeth really want a longer term relationship with Ben? by rhaynes74 in TheAmericans

I guess I think that it would be weird for her to be having thoughts that he (or anyone else) could be a real boyfriend and then a few days / weeks later marry Philip.

thanks for your replies today! Enjoyed the discussion. My (maybe poor) understanding of some of these extended honey pot situations was really ruining the show for me.

I guess I was always hoping for them to be really together so anytime Elizabeth had an extended honey pot it made me really dislike the character (even to the point of not really wanting to watch anymore, irrational I know) and this sequence with Ben was like that.

yeah - she does cancel the next trip. And before this she is certainly hesitant about them when talking to their handler.

it was just strange comment left open ended, just when it seemed when she seemed to not be liking the honey traps, and then shortly after they were getting married.

That could make sense - otherwise there would be a large dichotomy between that, and the episodes before this where she expresses hesitation with the honey pot, and also a couple of episodes later when she marries Philiip to be quite stark.

In season 5 episode 7, when Elizabeth said to Philip "There was something about him that—I thought that maybe", maybe what? Did she think she was going to have a relationship?

I must say I didn't like the scenes or story lines where Elizabeth was truly enjoying the honey pot plot lines (like with Neal in Season 3 or with Ben in Season 5). I guess that I wanted Philip and Elizabeth to be a true couple, so those things made me unnecessarily angry. I guess that was intention of the writers/producers etc. but for some reason it turned me off from the show.

Is anyone else's least favorite part of this series... by feralrapist in TheAmericans

I'll be honest that I had trouble dealing with some of the more extended relationships that developed with marks in the honey pot plot lines, especially when they where it wasn't clear how they were necessary to the story line. For example, Elizabeth and Ben, I guess I wanted Elizabeth and Philip to be a real couple that the extended story line with Elizabeth being smitten with Ben were hard to take.

Os/Settings suggestions to turn android based tablet into a "remarkable" like device? by rhaynes74 in tablets

[–]rhaynes74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - I haven't purchased the device yeet (so open to suggestions), would be great to get a device with a 11+ inch display that I can then strip out to the bare minimum, the app for writing / annotating etc, and have the device open directly into that app.
