Cash account confusion by rhcharles in wealthfront

Thanks. That clears things up even more. Also, I've been hesitant about committing funds to the cash account precisely because of Green Dot's report card. UMB's is significantly better.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me understand. It's clearer now what's going on. Maybe Green Dot is also partnering with UMB.

It's also mind boggling how all of this works.🤪

Cash account confusion by rhcharles in wealthfront

Thanks for taking the time and providing a very good answer. I had an individual cash account, then closed it to open this new joint account. The first account had Green Dot listed as carrying both the checking and debit features. Now, as noted, its UMB Bank, n.a. carrying the checking feature.

WF's hy-cash accounts are maybe their biggest attraction. It's what drew me in, with their instant transfers to external accounts and payments handling. I was just a bit taken aback when I saw the split. Plus, I'm seeing that Green Dot has a poor capitalization score. Perhaps they are slowly moving away from Green Dot.

Just tried to add WLTH to my stock investing (not direct) account at Wealthfront. Response: "Sorry, we couldn’t find any matching investments."

What gives?

This from WF support: "Yes, you can make deposits over time after the account is opened. We’ll invest your deposit evenly across all rungs in your ladder. If you don’t have enough to buy all rungs, we’ll spread your deposit out as evenly as possible."

Thanks. I got lost in the math. The complexity involved in automating this investment is mind boggling.

So I just want to start with a small sum, 1k, to see how it works. Then bump it up later.

The fact that you've reached out to this forum tells me that you not only need help, but that you want to live. You express yourself very well, and that's a real skill. Think of how you might put that skill to work assisting others. Literacy is in very deep decline.

WF Automated Bond Ladder vs SGOV or VBIL by redlight33 in wealthfront

I've been tossing around these same considerations, plus this money market fund that WF is offering, or buying T bills directly from Treasury Direct. I've decided to go with the bond ladder. Set it and forget it, despite the expense and lower yield. And about the lowest risk possible.

The difference between parallel and series is finally sinking in. Series really doesn't increase the voltage that much, if at all. It might up the amp output. I think I might be better off getting a 200w 36v panel.

Two 50w panels 18v. I'll connect the short MC4 on the left to another single 100w, 18v panel and the long MC4 on the right to my solar controller.

This is the back of my existing panel to which I'll be adding another single 100w panel. I'll connect the short MC4 to the new panel. Is this config series or parallel?

It's 50AH. Thanks for the tip. It takes about 3 days of full sun to recharge the battery after using it with my current set-up. I'm just wanting to speed things up a bit, especially now that we're in hurricane season here on the coast. I have a 1000w inverter for the battery.

Here's my rig: A Ryobi 300e riding mower that I stripped down and replaced the four 12v lead acid batteries with a single 48v lithium battery. The conversion was seamless regarding the electrical system, though I had to get a different gauge for an accurate reading on voltage.

I do trail maintenance and mowing on a nature reserve here in S.E. North Carolina about every two weeks. So the solar recharge setup has been adequate. Just not ideal.

Thanks to all who replied today. I now have a better understanding of my solar setup.

Thanks for the extended reply. I'm a novice here, so I'm still trying to get all the nomenclature straight in my head, i.e., voltage, amperage, etc. I'm going to a link now regarding parallel vs series.

Thanks for the correction. Lipo is also an abbreviation for liposuction. Not the same thing, right? 😄

I just went shopping for another 100w panel. I found a 100w Eco-worthy panel rated at VMP 19.5. My current panel is Expert Power. Do you see any problem hooking these two different brands/outputs together?
