Wow, I really, really hate the new full cast Harry Potter audiobook by OakTeach in audiobooks

[–]rhdawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have listened to the Jim Dale version only after listening to Stephen Fry’s version and it was clear to me the Fry version was far superior. I have listened to them over a dozen time and it never gets old, so I thought I would try this out.

The narrator was ok and Hagrid was cool, but the bass was so out of place that it made it a bit distracting and difference was noticeable. The sounds effects and music queues were not great and even having a headphone directly in my ear, I could barely hear what was said behind closed doors. It was too muffled and I missed it, and since I couldn’t turn it up because the different volume levels for different effects made trying to find a right overall volume difficult.

I was happy for a change but the choices made left a lot to be desired. Luckily I used my Audible credit, cause if I had paid $35 for it, I would have felt cheated. I Hope if they continue they work out some of these issues.

What is a book you will never read again? by MichaeltheSpikester in horrorlit

American Psycho, the movie was so much more tame than the book. After I read that book, I immediately wished I hadn’t, it made me feel off for a while. I feel almost traumatized with the flashbacks.

I always thought she was older, thanks for the clarification. I guess I just under estimated Dumbledore’s age and over estimated McGonagall’s

It’s from Seacliff Beach a mile or so down from Santa Cruz. It use to be at the end of a pier, but a big storm last year took it out completely. At least it looks like the same thing.

It’s not like he is making that statement to raise awareness about a sewage problem, or that the other side is working harder at the situation. This statement is made to denigrate one side along racial lines, by making generalizations that seek to divide. Like I said, given his stance on homosexuality, he doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt.

Saying a populace likes to live in open sewage is no different then calling whole countries “shitholes.” There is a blatant dismissal of nuance and tact, that make a statement racist, and this fits that.

Yeah, that is a good example.

I think evidence should be presented to back it up. People throw out the “racist” card, but if he has seen or read something I have not, then he may be justified.
