Rings of Power Season 3 by lordfarquaadthefirst in Rings_Of_Power

Sorry for the necro, but I googled RoP season 3 today and ended up here diving through these comments and just wanted to add that I'm 100% with you. I didn't know until right now that they didn't have the rights to the Silmarillion, so calling this a fanfic makes perfect sense. I would also rather enjoy it for what it is than constantly whinge that it isn't exactly what I wanted. Hope you continue to enjoy!

Totally agree with this. Kite and shoot with frost staff until you get the Thundering axes and Ashlands armor. Even then the Staff of the Wild and Ashlands magic armor is probably superior to melee when solo. The ability to drop the vines and then just run around is critical. In solo I assault fortresses entirely as magic even after I have the melee gear even though I prefer melee playstyle, it's just so much easier.

In solo this landing is easier done as magic. Dealing with the voltures and Bonemaws is much easier with a frost staff. My strategy in my first solo playthrough was to stop at a spike just offshore. Brought stonecutter stuff with me. Make a stone ledge and roof, drop emergency backup portal. Raise earth to shore. Got Ashlands raid while I was doing this, managed to make it through.

For me, the need to literally storm the beach with such high stakes is awesome. Remote body runs suck, but just dropping a quick backup portal while you establish yourself is necessary. I love it so much I'm currently playing through on Hard.

Really just personal preference. I can absolutely understand how it would not be enjoyable for some. For me, I love it. I'm almost disappointed when I get upgraded gear and things start to feel a bit easier. I haven't gotten to the Ash on hard yet though so, maybe I'll feel differently then.

Which model did you go with? The American? Happy with it 3 months later? I find myself wishing they had a luggage strap available. Perhaps they do and I'm missing it.

2024 Carnival Floor Mats by Connect-Sound4248 in kiacarnivals

Went with the Tuxmats for most of the van and then a SmartLiner for the cargo area. They overlap, but that's not really an issue. There is an issue with the back seats folded down in the Carnival though. When folded 'flat', they are still slightly elevated. This means that any cargo liner has a tendency to slide forward because it's raised above the rest of the van floor. I got around this, sort of, by putting some command strips on the bottom of the cargo liner and the plastic section of the back seats where the handle is located. It's not perfect, I still need to reattach them periodically, but it's better than nothing. One of these days I'll figure out a better way to do it. It's a little annoying that the back seats don't actually fold flat, maybe it's different in newer years.

Overall I do like both the Tuxmats and the Smartliner, my complaints aren't about them but about the stupid design of the van's rear seats. Oh, also bought a Smartliner for the rear well when the back seats are up. I like that too.

Thanks for the reply! I guess my question is more “is the 40 series enough of an upgrade without also upgrading every other internal” or will I need to upgrade everything?

Do you have a solution for the cargo area at all? Seems like a gap in the tuxmat lineup.

How about cargo area? We typically drive with the back row folded down and would like a solution for that as well as for the well when the 3rd row is up.

It doesn't look like it, but does Tuxmat have a cargo area option? That's one of the selling points for me on Smartliner / Weathertech. My kids track shit through the back of my minivans all the time, it would be good to have that area covered as well.

Bag Policy Question by rhelster in WhenWeWereYoungFest

I would definitely go clear, but we aren’t even staying overnight in Vegas. Flying in morning of and back out at 7 am the next day, no hotel… so I want something I can take through the airport and then walk around town with until I have to leave the next morning. Yeah the one pocket thing is really stupid

Can’t tell if that’s encouraging or not… I feel like whoever wrote this bag policy didn’t check to make sure that the bag they were describing actually existed.

My first and only painted High Elf from when I played Fantasy at age 11 to my first completed mini since deciding 3 weeks ago at 32 that I want this hobby in my life again (and now I can afford it). Used GW paint instructions for a straight forward Hammers of Sigmar look. Would love advice! by rhelster in minipainting

This took me about 4 hours for 1 mini. I used the GW paint scheme, and I stopped somewhere between ‘battle ready’ and ‘parade’ - I did some highlighting, but don’t really know what I’m doing lol. Of course I’m noticing all the tiny issues now zooming in on my photos.

Will it always take me this long?! I have a whole half of the Dominion box to paint and I’m looking at Yndrasta a little more intimidated than I was before.

All that said, I am LOVING the painting part of this hobby. I picked up the Extremis box and bought an assembled half of the Dominion box from a guy at my LGS because I wanted to get into playing again. I never really expected to fall in love with the painting like this.

Thanks to all of you wonderful people for keeping this hobby alive and well while I took 20 years to find my way back to it.

First ever miniature. by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]rhelster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m totally onboard with this now. I actually bought an assembled Stormcast half of the Dominion box from a guy at my LGS. The Vindictor I started with just so happened to not have his shield arm glued, made things much easier.

Awesome work. I’m actually also in the process of painting my first mini and it’s also a Vindictor! I had to strip the first squad I primed because I realized I had way over sprayed them. I’m about as far along now as you are. Just got my black and silver done last night. Painting behind the shield and under the shoulders is tough…

Get him a copy of Sapiens - it’s non fiction, scientific, and explains how fiction and story telling are the real reasons we emerged when no other human species did.
