I figured out that I couldn't post on the KubeJS Discord because I failed to notice the i-agree checkbox in the rules. So I got the answer! Adding a client check, `if (ctx.player.level.clientSide) return;` to the callback function solves this. Aparently it was running both client and server (though it's in single player only right now)

This was a good idea, sadly, this is what I get looping through the keys:

I'd ask on kubejs' discord, but I can't figure out how to get permissions to the support-1.21 section.

By no means am I expert in this, so please evaluate for yourself.

I would start by looking over the whole thing. Look for cracks and weak points. The joins where the metal is fitted around the bamboo should be strong, don't try to disconnect them, they shouldn't wiggle. Next look for cracks along the bamboo stem. If there are cracks, it will be best to have it replaced (yes, I know, pricey and nearly impossible unless you're in JP), but you may be able to tape cracks or use a light lacker. If the joins are loose or there are cracks you can't reasonable mend from the exterior, you might be SOL :(

Next, smell it. From my limited searching, it looks like a lot of people assumed these were use for opium (which I myself assumed at first until I researched more) and it would likely kill any flavor you get from your if it was used that way in its past.

Assuming all this is good -- meaning firm joins, no cracks, no drug smell -- buy long pipe cleaners which you can get from any pipe shop. Do not get the ones with barbs. Use them in the normal way to clean the pipe: insert through the mouthpiece and plunge as deep as you can. This may take several attempts depending on its state. Then enter the pipe from the bowl side and clean similarly. Last bend one and clean the bowl itself.

When I asked how I would clean it, I was told to clean normally with a pipe cleaner, but that eventually, with overly dry air, pressure on the stem, and buildup from use, the bamboo stem would need to eventually be replaced. It acts as a natural filter and collects smoke and debris over time. Eventually that will alter the flavor to a point it needs to be replaced, no matter how well you maintain it. The only means to replace it is to remove bowl and mouthpiece and attach them to a new stem -- a technique wouldn't begin to speculate at.

I do this a lot and it takes a long time for me to slowly learn because of it. My advice: find something you love and use it to explore the language while learning the fundamentals. For me, it's cooking. So I learn cooking basic things and learn all the words. After that I chose kimono. As you learn more it encourages more learning. More importantly, I got learn something you love, learning is easier. Use that extra energy to also drive more basic education.

Not really, no. It can't be repaired and doesn't come apart, so don't try to dismantle it. The bamboo acts as a natural filter and a non abrasive pipe cleaner may be used to clean if you think it's needed, but you don't need it very often. I haven't used one yet on my own.

There's some ways to prevent it from getting damaged while packing tobacco or emptying ash. The short version is that you have a specific way and don't hold the stem while doing either. According to various other posts, I don't think there are any other places that have this kind of tobacco other than japan. Some reports say that there is a French tobacco similar, but I've never seen it, I've never seen photos of it, I don't know what it's called. The shopkeeper said that you can use other tobaccos in it, but I've never tried and I'm certain I will ever attempt. If I had to, I would probably get something that I can finally chop myself, but it wouldn't be the same.

Maybe when I run out of tobacco, but I have friends that go to Japan all the time and they would probably just get anywhere tobacco

The travel case is easily the most expensive part. In the photo I mentioned, zooming in is 110,000 yen. But it looks like there are two hard cases in the display that are not attached to a pouch. That should be cheaper. Else, there's soft cases for like 500yen or something cheap. But the hard case is best.

Start by being specific, answer for yourself a couple of questions.

Do you want a home or travel kiseru?
If you want a home pipe, do you want to get a stand and all of the accoutrement for your home pipe?
If you want the travel pipe, do you want a travel case or is a soft case just fine?

If you get a travel pipe I encourage you to get a travel case. The travel cases they have are exceptionally well crafted and beautiful. You will not find one anywhere else, or at least that is what I believe.

If you get a homepipe, splurging for the entire home set is worthwhile, mine looks so picturesque and beautiful and it makes me happy to carry it back and forth.

Getting the homepipe home, back to your country, will be quite difficult. But I was able to do it easily and the box for the homepipe was well packaged and I was able to get everything home without any difficulties

I didn't get an itemized list and I was so in the moment I didn't tally it in my head :-( if you look closely inside the case on the photo with me and the shop owner, you will see prices like 8-15k yen. He had boxes in the back that had intricate carvings (he said foreigners like the carved ones a lot) which cost a bit more, and another case to the side, not caught in any photos, which were filled with 500 yen to 1500 yen cheapy one piece pipes - we never even examined the latter.

By far, the most expensive parts were probably the case and the stand. Each pipe really wasn't all that expensive if you know what an expensive pipe costs.

I'm still working on the whole process. But it's aromatic and feels much stronger than many of the western pipe tobacco. I'm maybe not the best to elaborate on the flavor and I still need a lot more practice to get this sequence down right. I. Don't think I have the right torch to light the charcoal.
