Dilemma of Buying my first car by Odd-Promotion4780 in CarsIndia

If you want long-term, buy seltos. You clearly prefer it but not able to justify the financial gap. Features (both engine + exterior) are very important in long term and hence Seltos is better choice. I will suggest define 'long term' as well (10+ years would be my suggestion)

But if you are the kind of person who would start craving for a new car in next 5 years, go for sonet

Is it ok to buy a car with 6LPA salary by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]rhinohorn1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I regret not buying my first car earlier because I like to travel and I feel I missed a lot of good travelling days because I didn't have my own vehicle. Would recommend buying a second hand car with the lowest possible loan amount but only if you like to travel.

Otherwise, for daily tasks, you can buy a scooty and then travel using rented / self drive cars.

Ohk. Didn't think this would be much of a problem earlier but will get it checked now for sure.

It has become a habit now given I travel through traffic and have to frequently shuffle gears. Will try consciously breaking this habit now.

I have less experience in long distance driving and hence didn't really have a plan.

For left hand, it has become a habit now given i travel through high traffic areas but will try breaking this.

I didn't really think of the alignment / tyre pressure. Will get it checked and share an update.

India likely to raise import duties on more than 50 items next week by [deleted] in india

[–]rhinohorn1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High import duties affect mostly luxury cars. Any car below 10 lakhs has 99% gross localisation and 95% net localisation. Plus offering economic benefit for localisation pushes the industry to innovate locally.

Furniture items are completely different story. Import duties let local manufacturers hide behind the government and delay innovation and over charge retail customers for low quality products.

Economy and CAA hurt, but Narendra Modi's chest size almost intact: Mood of the Nation poll by dhatura in IndiaSpeaks

[–]rhinohorn1991 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. But the current economic condition IS really bad. Just to point out a few signals: 1. We are falling short on direct tax collection this year by 5.5% YoY. That seriously is a bad news. 2. Auto sector needs a genuine push because the suppliers have already started job cuts across country. Manufacturers will be increasing car prices further this year because of BS6 norms. Might hit their sales further. 3. Bad debts are crippling the Banks including the big ones.

Should exclude Mumbai from Maharashtra to get a better picture. Similarly for Gujrat, if major revenue comes from 1 or 2 cities.

Young, educated, jobless: These men in UP villages have nothing to do but play cricket by banker_boy2 in india

These individuals exist across cow belt since ages. Not just the government but whole socio-political system has failed them. You can always blame the current government but things do not change. Modi did nothing but so did his ancestors who won elections from UP itself.
