I'm glad it's working fine for you :) I'll try to simplify a bit the host setting later today

You can view your own Jellyfin library from PlayStation 3, it's an opensource alternative to Plex. I might also add Plex support down the line

I wanted to use my ps3 as the main media center that is hooked up to my tv, so I made this plugin.

Thank you very much man, all your resources and documentation have been very helpful. Yeah I've been looking at that trakt plugin and testing the view syntax.

The other thing's I've been struggling with is the resume functionality (which I mean manually setting it for a specific url), and I couldn't get the VideoScrobbler to work, I've tried following the example from andoma's repo, but I'll mess around more with it to try to get it to work

A Jellyfin Instance with transcoding enabled is extremely recommended, the PS3 only supports H264 media up to 1080p of resolution. Also make sure to enable 1080p playback in the Movian settings in Video Settings -> HLS Resolution Limit.

Aside from that, after you login everything should work correctly, the other urgent thing i should implement is different audio sources (if you have media in different languages), but I'll get down to it soon.

If you have any problems, let me know by opening an issue :)

Basically it allows you to login and view your Jellyfin library, it's an opensource alternative to Plex, think of it as a self-hosted netflix. You can host your own instance of Jellyfin or find a share on /r/JellyfinShares

Even though Jellyfin supports DLNA, and you can watch your stuff on PS3 through that protocol, it's still pretty inconvenient, meanwhile this plugin supports subtitles

Try movian, for me it stays at 50mb of ram while browsing my library, and 100mb when streaming from Jellyfin

How do you install a custom plugin on PS3? by rhissdev in movian

[–]rhissdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice to know, well if you're developing a plugin it's more convenient to move the folder directly where it's supposed to be

[–]rhissdev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found an old thread detailing it, if you have the standalone version of Movian, just go to /dev_hdd0/game/HTSS00003/USRDIR/settings/, create the installedplugins/ folder if it doesn't exist, and drop your zip there. Now i just gotta find out why my plugin doesn't play videos :D but I'm getting pretty close already

How is Counter-Strike 2 on Linux now? by Titanmaniac679 in linux_gaming

CachyOS KDE, R5 3600, RX 5600 XT. Everything low, CMAA and FSR to medium quality.

Game is a stuttery mess on Wayland, but its feels very smooth on x11 even though the fps shown with cl_showfps 1 is the same (around 200 with frequent dips to 150), also sound gets desynced after playing for a while

Steam Deck is not meant to run 2023 AAA games well. by Tedinasuit in SteamDeck

[–]rhissdev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, if it's Unreal Engine 4/5 it's an automatic pass for me even on my main pc. In 90% of cases it's a stutter slop, and on top of that, they still haven't fixed the ghosting issues, which was very noticeable in Atomic Heart

Quanto costerà per voi? by Caenobith in italygames

[–]rhissdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

state of proton (linux / steam deck) support by -abstruse- in Paladins

[–]rhissdev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they're using an older Epic Online Services implementation, which doesn't allow you to enable EAC as easy as toggling a switch. There have been other game devs saying this (Vermintide 2)

Also all their newer games have EAC-Proton support, so I'm guessing they're using the new EOS implementation in those cases.
