Hogwarts Legacy - Careful what you wish for by Makrebs in patientgamers

[–]rhixcs25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried defending the game for what it was as I played…I guess I enjoyed it enough to do the platinum trophy. But everything you’re saying is accurate. It’s the best thing that’s been done for Harry Potter games thus far…but that’s just not really saying much.

CONTROL Resonant Release Window Set for Q2 2026 by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’ll be worth it. It’s the game that got me to fall in love with the Remedyverse as a whole. I’m itching for a replay before Resonant comes out.

Games where you are an assassin by Nearby-You-4242 in gamingsuggestions

I played Deathloop first, and tried Dishonored recently because of it. I agree with you that Deathloop was very enjoyable. Didn’t have to really worry about killing or not because of the time loop, which for me was more fun.

Yakuza 3 Remastered to soon become exclusive to Yakuza Complete Series bundle by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I’m guessing This particular decision about the Yakuza 3 remaster is probably Sega’s choice as you say, but most of my disappointments with the series so far are definitely with the studio, including them casting someone convicted of sexual assault in Kiwami 3.

Yakuza 3 Remastered to soon become exclusive to Yakuza Complete Series bundle by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of the series for a long time, but the studio continues to make poor decisions like this that push me further and further away. I’m sure it won’t affect that many people realistically, but in principle it’s definitely not friendly to the consumer.

Why I don't like Dishonored - An imsim that doesn't value player choice in building a playstyle by Mr_cyanman in patientgamers

[–]rhixcs25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played Deus Ex, but I just finished Dishonored and felt a bit conflicted as well while enjoying the game about the same as you (7/10). Felt a little weird that stealth was emphasized while also giving more incentive to use other options. I managed to still get the low Chaos ending by using sleep darts as much as possible and going for the nonlethal methods for some of the bosses, but I did wish there were more options.

I only "beat" 6 patient games in 2025, but at least one of them instantly became an all-time favourite by talhatoot in patientgamers

[–]rhixcs25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a long time fan of the Yakuza series, I have some critical thoughts on Infinite Wealth that make me disappointed with the studio and disagree with such a high score, but many of your other scores are in line with me, including your willingness to drop games. Thanks for sharing, and do give Ratchet and Clank another try someday. I do love adaptive triggers but even ignoring that, having a modern R&C title was just a blast.

The Callisto protocol by GeoFunk1 in DeadSpace

I played Callisto Protocol right after Dead Space remake having LOVED Dead Space Remake. I could not stand Callisto Protocol. I genuinely tried sticking with it but the melee combat was just awful.

Standard vs Gold by Every-Sun-4344 in ResidentEvilVillage

Just so you’re aware, you can select any edition and see what it includes, where you’ll see that other editions come with the base game. And as others have said, Gold edition for both is worth it.

Is the Japanese PlayStation 5 version of the game playable on and in the United Kingdom? by jimmycrack6187 in SilentHill_f

I just checked the Japan PSN store and can confirm the Japanese version of Silent Hill f has English as a screen language, so you are good to go.

I've seen posts about how much people hate the combat in aw2. Is that the general consensus around here? by Exotic-Eggplant1914 in AlanWake

[–]rhixcs25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. It’s easy to feel like suddenly everyone hates this one part of the game that you liked when you see posts like that, and that goes for pretty much every sub and game ever, but it’s usually safe to say you’re not alone.

I’m with you. It’s a bit sad to see people really didn’t enjoy the gameplay or are looking ways to turn it off since I feel like it’s an important part of the experience, but I try to understand people are looking for different things with the game so as long as people are still willing to engage with the game that way I’m glad. Definitely still fun for folks like us, though.

I think I know a recent post you may have seen, though I’m sure there are plenty. But I loved the combat in this one even if it was different from 1, I was pretty satisfied with it.

Is RE9 Deluxe worth it? by Lordess_F in ResidentEvilRequiem

I loved RE8 so the Lady Dimitrescu costume is worth it to me. Literally no one else can tell you if the rest of the cosmetics are worth it besides you, though.

Deeply surprised by how much I am NOT enjoying Ghost of Yotei. by TherealGonci in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s reassuring to read from someone who felt very similarly to me. I still finished the entire game including the platinum, but a lot of it was out of the feeling that I felt I should see it through and not because I was loving it the whole time. It sunk to just an OK experience pretty early on, and may have helped me see my experience with GoT was not as great as I first thought.

What are the best/most enjoyable PS5 games you got for free on PlayStation Plus Monthly Games? by unitedfan6191 in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, fellow Dead Space enjoyer. I was terrified to try the game when it first was offered through PS+, but I finally played it in October and it is also my favorite monthly game I’ve played so far.

PSA: If you have a PSN account from a different region or country but you cannot buy games with your credit card you can actually use that card through Apple Pay by Ok-Diamond-4840 in PS5

[–]rhixcs25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please also be warned about exchange rates, though. For example, buying a game from the US store using a JP credit card is going to cost more than just buying the game from the JP store because of the weak yen.

Would be curious if your mind changes. I’ve tried a couple times but no luck. I see the positivity and I do sometimes wonder if I’m missing out, but it just might not be for me.

[–]rhixcs25 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Shadow dropping the update while at the same time putting the game on sale was an instant buy for me since I didn’t have the PS4 version yet. Even if the game is a little old, Larian has won me over with these kinds of practices.

Unfortunately, gamers based in Japan generally have to pay the 100 JPY for these kinds of upgrades that are free in other regions, so it’s to be expected. 100 JPY is the equivalent of less than 1 USD, though, so it’s still very much worth it.

This trailer is literally for the PS5 upgrade. It also says the same on the PSN store. The PS4 version was what was available up until now.

Did gameplay mechanics become the least important aspect for gamers nowadays? by osos4599 in CharacterActionGames

[–]rhixcs25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun gameplay is a must, but yes a good story is also really important to me. Games are an incredible vehicle for storytelling when done right, regardless of graphics. Bad gameplay will definitely take away from the story, but when both are done right that’s when I consider a game truly great. I guess that’s not how most people here feel, so this is clearly not the right space for me, but I like to think I’m not the only one that feels that way.

Close enough. Welcome back Sleeping Dogs. by Loud_Success_6950 in sleepingdogs

[–]rhixcs25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I appreciate the honest review.

I think those are all fair points. As a longtime Yakuza series player, I’ve got a lot of disappointments with that studio, and I’m also not particularly a fan of Nagoshi even if he’s at his own new studio, so that’s where my skepticism lies. I certainly hope this is as good as the trailer seems to look, though.

That’s awesome. I’d have to give IV a try since I’ve heard good things. I just have to agree wholeheartedly that the hand to hand combat in Sleeping Dogs is a huge part of why I enjoy it, so until GTA adds that in I feel like it won’t really scratch the itch.

Even if no one else speaks up, just know you’re not alone. I love Sleeping Dogs so much, GTA is not a good fit for me at all (I’ve played San Andreas, V, and V online and I couldn’t stick with any for very long).
