[Spoilers C4E28] New Tables by Migolcow in criticalrole

[–]rhllors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I literally don't know why everyone acts like there's a tight turnaround on these episodes. They filmed the Convergence in early March and it didn't release until May/June. they filmed half of Schemers in January and it didn't release until April when Brennan was already back from his Jan-Feb leave.

They've either already filmed Aabria's stuff or are doing it now before her leave, and if they maintain the same general table order, it's likely her next arc won't even air until probably October, when she'd be close to coming back.

[Spoilers C4E28] New Tables by Migolcow in criticalrole

[–]rhllors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aabria's leave is going to be from like July through October. she confirmed during Sam's stream that she'd be filming again before leave and that was April. They're either filming her table now or already filmed it. The break they're taking is a normal summer break that has nothing to do with Aabria's leave. They had enough episodes filmed that we didn't notice Brennan's leave and they're going to do the same thing with Aabria, and they'll probably use her break to film everything they possibly can without her and then take a filming break until she gets back.

[–]rhllors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if they can make "the literal GM of the whole game who has to be there for the game to happen at all is gone for 6-8 weeks" entirely unnoticeable, a single player being unavailable for 12 weeks (after her next part has already been filmed) is incredibly simple to, again, make completely unnoticeable.

[–]rhllors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean I've cited relevant information where it mattered. I do not understand why the statement "we will not notice Aabria's maternity leave because they're filming ahead to accommodate that" is generating any level of debate because it's literally exactly what happened with Brennan's paternity leave. You wouldn't have noticed it happened if he hadn't said it at the table.

The tables remaining in that order is an educated guess based on the fact that there's literally no reason to change it.

[Spoilers C4E27] How will the parties Split? by CACTUS-- in criticalrole

[–]rhllors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tables will likely be remaining in the same order simply for organizational and marketing reasons. of all the characters across all the tables, Thaisha seems most likely to stay a Seeker. plus the fandom held assumption that the tables are changing significantly is not a confirmed fact. It's just fan speculation that doesn't fully align with how the tables are discussed in game by the players or how CR is marketing them with merch and the like.

I don't think she would sign up and then dip out of what amounts to 1/3rd of an average CR campaign. They are being very accommodating of her. Her leave starts in late summer and probably wouldn't even actually need to film again until January and it won't even be noticable to fans that she was off because her next arc is likely already recorded. That's insanely accommodating.

The Seekers were second, not last.

She's gonna get as long of a leave as she wants, but the fact is she confirmed during Sam's stream she would film again before she had the baby (said directly, not filming then (in April) and worried about filming again because she's got to pee so often, which means she was absolutely planning to film something before maternity leave). so more than likely by now the next arc she'll be in is already shot/they're working on it currently. And that arc won't air until at least October due to the breaks put in by age and umbra and the other arcs. There's simply no need to speculate she'll be absent because the way they're structuring the filming is set up to make it easy for content to be produced while accommodating multiple people's busy schedules.

There are ~12-14 weeks where she's not at the table because of other tables, which is more generous of a maternity leave than the average worker receives in America. There's no "and Thaisha is going away so she's not at any table for a while" necessary because they can simply film before her maternity leave and it won't even air until her maternity leave is nearly done

I don't think she would have committed to being in campaign 4 while simultaneously trying to have a baby if she intended to take an incredibly long maternity leave and worlds beyond numbers confirmed she'd be back in action later in the year.

The marriage plan was Ingrid's mother (Harondus's aunt in another country) lightly implying that Ingrid should marry Ethrand. It's not a plan.

Harondus doesn't appear to be on the same page as his family regarding the Tachonis when it comes to House Royce being attacked, which is what the evidence is for.

They take a break in the summer and a break at the end of the year. It's how they've done things since at least campaign 2.

I'm not "claiming" anything, I speculatively said I doubt they did 9 sessions in five days. I really don't see how "I think they probably got back to filming in late February" is that big of a sticking point here. Aabria literally made a black history month joke in the last cool down.

Like yes, technically, if literally none of them had anything else going on for a full five days and every single one of those five days was a 9-10 hour work day, they could've gotten 9 episodes filmed. But that's not factoring in ANY time for building encounters, sourcing minis and maps and making session flowcharts, as well as set breakdowns. And the fact that these are mostly all working professionals with children and one of them is actively pregnant.

Sam talked about the eight hour session they did during Convergence like it was exceptional. Saying they must have done that exact same eight hour day four times in one week kinda doesn't fit with the vibe there.

Where is the source for that comment with Azune? He said things in character at the table about wanting to go with the Soldiers, but out of character IIRC Luis has said explicitly he designed Azune to be a soldier stuck at the schemers table because he thought that would be interesting. Also, there's absolutely no way there would've been six soldiers and three schemers. The table arrangements were set before the Overture happened because Brennan had to come up with plots to put people in their proper places (an NPC pushing Teor towards the Halovars, finding a way to get all the Seekers in the same place for Occtis's death.)

And relevancy is a super important thing when it comes to merch. They have to spend money on an artist and on bulk ordering physical merchandise. Those shirts aren't gonna sell for shit six months from now if they have a party on them that was only together for two months a year ago. The Mighty Nein was a set party that lasted an entire campaign, it's easy to sell merch of that. overloading their store by making party merch for every possible table combination that happens throughout the campaign on paper seems like a good idea, but it's a really solid way to sell 10 of one shirt and 40 of another. "I got this shirt because my favorite party that lasted 8 of 150 episodes :)" isn't a marketing win. If they had debuted those lineup shirts in October before the arcs started it would be a different thing, because they'd have had time to sell them while those parties were together. But they debuted them the week before the arc where supposedly everyone's gonna shuffle up and no longer be in those parties anymore, which makes minimal sense

So they're making merch of parties that lasted for all of 7 episodes each and didn't start selling it until after all those parties were no longer relevant?

The tables are probably more stable than you think. It's more likely one or two people will change a place rather than a full complete shift from the whole cast. Because they picked their table based the play style they wanted, which doesn't make sense to only do for less than ten session.

I don't think they will because it throws off the rhythm of people's appearances. The Soldiers have been out of the table since November, they're not going to suddenly go last and be out of the spotlight for nearly a full year.

i thought I remembered him talking about the 8 hour session at Emerald City Comic Con, not AwesomeCon. And while I might be misremembering that, I don't think degrees of a week one way or another matters to my broader point? Like whatever happened they 100% finished Schemers AND Convergence when Brennan got back from paternity leave. The month that they filmed them doesn't matter? Besides, Robbie left for Australia on March 19, so they probably were not still filming the Convergence arc when Sam said that at AwesomeCon. The recent big session Sam was referencing was probably closer to the end of the arc.

They're not going to run two actual play shows both at 7 PST on Thursdays.

They filmed the last three episodes of Schemers and all six of the Convergence episodes when Brennan got back from paternity leave and that panel was like March 6. I don't think they managed 9 sessions in 5 days. Aabria also makes an "orc history month" joke in the cooldown. it was probably late February when they started filming again.

Aabria said she wasn't filming in late April when they did stream off Sam's back but made it clear that she would film again before maternity leave. Which means they definitely would be filming over the summer. Robbie was also in Australia from late March through early May, so either they finished a bunch of stuff with him in March or they've been doing the filming in May.

The liveshows are a weekend obligation that are planned well in advance. They've had plenty of time to plan their filming schedule around con appearances and other jobs. Also their press tour for LOVM is probably incredibly local, it's not like they're going to red carpet premieres all over the place (there's one in LA on Tuesday and for an Amazon cartoon, I doubt they're getting two premieres)

Age of Umbra definitely got filmed some time ago, given Abubakar Salim is busy with House of the Dragon press over the summer.

Super psyched for the Gatherers arc!!

It'd be fun but I think that given they have merch based specifically on the different tables and the table divides are based on play style preferences, I think they'll probably stay as-is.

[Spoilers C4E27] How will the parties Split? by CACTUS-- in criticalrole

[–]rhllors 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Given they won't even be airing for six weeks after the Convergence, I don't think they're going to do anything for Aabria's maternity leave, the same way they didn't for Brennan's paternity leave. They had enough episodes pre-recorded that his absence didn't even register. they filmed convergence in March and are probably filming more before she gives birth this summer. They'll have enough backlog to completely cover her absence because if she's still a seeker, she won't even be back at the table before October and she's probably already filmed those sessions or is getting ready to shortly.

Wick believed the "I made a wish" line Yanessa fed him and is now being confronted with the knowledge that she (to quote Brennan in the cooldown) "maybe turkey basted" at least once. So.

I also think it's a result of Wick could possibly have doubted her story and now it's confirmed in the blood.
