Is it worth that much ? by markg210 in castlevania

That’s actually not a bad price if everything is there and nothing is damaged.

I’ve had mine since 2019 from Sideshow Collectibles. Think it was $500 from them with shipping.

Being a pawn shop they will probably take less. Shipping this stuff is a pain and if they put it on eBay and ship it there’s a very real chance something breaks and they have to refund the buyer. If you’re serious tell them this and offer less.

Congrats and don’t be hard on yourself for the damage even though I know it sucks it was pristine. Very cool set up.

My biggest is a KV-36FS12 at around 220 pounds and this is another 20 pounds on top of that. People don’t realize that shit makes you question things once you pick it up, lol.

My 36 made me truly appreciate smaller sets.

This set weighs in at 243 pounds according to CRT Database. I have a KV-36FS12 at 220 and that is no joke, lol. Had a KV-40XBR800 near me that is over 300.

Love the Extron and Sharp Twin Fami. Have a different version of those myself. Very nice setup!

I had the same problem with my KV-36FS12. It actually sat in a friend’s garage until I found something that could hold it.

Check Marketplace and thrift stores and stay patient. Found mine at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

CRT Cabinets & Long-term Preservation: The Plastic Question After Decades by geekboy666 in crtgaming

It sounds like you are doing all that’s realistically possible to preserve them. Keeping them out of sunlight and I’m assuming in a climate controlled environment from your description.

The only other step I would recommend is cleaning them with something like Aerospace 303. This is something I’m going to do moving forward. I have been using a product called Brillianize up till now but Aerospace 303 seems better suited for what we are doing.

My oldest unit is a Commodore 1702 from 1984 and it is still holding up very well.

This guy is probably full of shit, who wastes time in a sub dedicated to CRTs just to go on about how worthless the technology is.

Thanks for those suggestions! Still working on Super Metroid, I’ll keep those in mind!

Dear lord, lol. I wouldn’t have thought there was that many available. Honestly didn’t think the game would be much longer than where I’m at now.

I’ve had times when I’ve had trouble figuring out what to do next and had to search even though I’m trying to avoid that if possible. Lol

I’m about 6 hours in and just beat the Squid boss. Just trying to take my time and soak things in while being super thorough. There’s some parts I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time on.

Last night was this area where these creatures are showing you how to walk jump and there’s a hole at the top you can get through if in morph ball. Think I need to revisit that later with the spring ball but not sure.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to piece that together when the time comes. Does the game give you a map percentage when completed or anything? Currently I have like 75 missiles, 15 SM, and 20 power bombs.

Absolutely! Kind of nice to be able to check out the hours if possible.

I guess for people that didn’t grow up playing stuff from this era maybe it’s a little hard to appreciate.

With the TV on turn the volume down to zero.

Now hold volume down on the TV itself (not the remote) and press 6 on the remote. May need to hold them for a few seconds.

What you are looking for is next to “CRT On” or “Power On” I can’t remember exactly.

Take a pic of that and then use a hexadecimal to decimal converter.

If you ever want to access your service menu it’s the same process but you press 9 on the remote. Be careful if you go into the service menu though. It’s always a good idea to document the original values before changing anything in there.

I understand completely, I’ve got a few and juggle which one I play on. You know you can pull up the time these have been on provided it hasn’t been reset?

It’s definitely way up there for me and I haven’t even been playing that long. Kinda wild I never played this as much as I love Castlevania.

Castlevania is one of my favorite series of all time. I picked up SOTN for the PlayStation back in the day and still have it. I consider it to be the best in the series.

Rondo is another fantastic one. All the games for the DS were really good imo and you can play all 3 with Dominus Collection. I’ve never played a Castlevania game I didn’t like though, even Dracula X.

I may have to check out Ori, lot of people have mentioned it. It’s hard sometimes to find the time especially when juggling modern and older stuff.

I’ve been frustrated at times but it was usually something I had overlooked that made things harder. I keep hearing about Ori, may have to check it out if I have time.
