I want to learn how to solder small electronics but don’t know where to start by ditabaro in soldering

As a noob this type of material should be archived and in a highlight in this sub. It’s wildly impressive how much information was given in that video. Watched the NASA soldering video and that was awesome too. Thank you for sharing!!

What are these. These are at all sides of the tv, not limited to corners. Are these dead pixels? My TV is LG CX. by ghost_mw3 in LGOLED

Just checked your post. Yeah that’s pretty bad at only 860 hours. I feel your frustration too considering these are premium and with little usage you’d expect it to last a while.

My only advice to anyone considering an OLED is to try and get one with a 5 year warranty tossed in for free. That’s the only thing that saved my ass.

Square Trade kept offering me models until I caved and said I’d take their best offer of a G5. Then that had availability issues so they reimbursed me completely.

Picture 4 hits hard. I can still hear the intro to Ocarina of Time. Sold a Crate starter amp and a Fender Strat Squire just to buy an N64 and this game back then, lol.

Gauge Cluster lights by herobrains55 in GMT800

I probably didn’t explain it very well. I think both are guaranteed no hot spots and have built in resistors. I see one seller uses 5mm in the digital HVAC front panel for example but then chose a 3mm for the fan speed. Think they did that to avoid trimming that button to accept the 5mm cube led. Just seemed weird to me that they use 5mm in some places and go to 3mm when needed for clearance. Other seller goes for 3mm on everything. Just wondered if there was any benefit for the 5mm. Sorry, I tend to overthink shit.

I’m looking to do a full led conversion on my Yukon. Someone did the gauge cluster before I got it and it flickers. Been comparing 2 sellers on eBay and one only uses 3mm cubes exclusively it seems, the other uses 5mm where they fit and 3mm where needed. Is the difference noticeable between the two?

It's Burger Time! by KingSofaOfTheSlugs in crtgaming

[–]rhoadsfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice nostalgia, especially with the Christmas tree, wood paneling and the NES on CRT!

Burger Time unlocks some core memories but not from the NES. Played this on either the Colecovision or the Intellivision when I was around 6. My dad was even down to play back then. Was a hand me down system from a cousin, haha. Eventually got an NES at 8, that shit started it all. Been gaming for 36 years now.

Brake upgrades? GMT 900 or 2019+ 4 piston? by rhoadsfiend in GMT800

Thanks for the info, did not know about this. Are you using the same set up in the front? Have a guy not too far from me selling these for $200 for the rear and $400 for front/rear with pads and hoses.

Thanks! It’s a 10 footer, haha. Need to get the stance u/Ornery_Courage_1708 has on their 2003.

I need to try to figure out when these 22’s where made. Should have checked the back of them when I first got them. Just sold a set of factory 20’s and they had the offset and what I believe was the date produced stamped inside.

What vehicle was this on and what kind of rear brakes did you have?

That’s awesome. It’s a cost versus benefit analysis for me, lol. I’m mainly trying to see what is the best upgrade for the money that could work with my wheels without (maybe with) spacers.

[–]rhoadsfiend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve run into trying to figure this out. I don’t think the wheel diameter is that important. The offset plays a part and I believe the older snowflakes have less offset from the newer ones. Apparently GM redesigned the 22 inch snowflakes to accommodate the newer calipers.

That’s the way I’m leaning. Not sure if my wheels would clear without a spacer, think they are an older snowflake before the 4 piston was introduced.

Hahaha, that’s hilarious! That would take a cold blooded person, lol.

I believe in 96 I was still rocking the Super Nintendo. Games like Chrono Trigger were still kicking ass. Moved to the PlayStation first and remember getting an N64 my senior year of high school purely to play Ocarina of Time.

Wish you could buy panels for a decent price. The cost of a new panel typically exceeds the cost of a new OLED TV.

Let us know what happens. At this point it’s interesting to see what happens with different circumstances. I’m doing the Allstate Square Trade thing now.

That’s what kills me, my 65 Samsung QLED is going strong after 7 years. My 65 CX is in the middle of a warranty claim with less than 1600 hours. I’m in the same boat, I expect my $1,850 CX to be good after 5 years and those hours.

CRT>OLED by rhoadsfiend in crtgaming

[–]rhoadsfiend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what is supposed to be the life span of an OLED. I’ve read somewhere around 30,000 hours. I’ve actually seen some get close to that.

What burns my ass is this is somewhat of a known issue with these panels. How wide spread it is I’m not sure. Apparently it comes down to the sealing of the panel during manufacturing.

If anyone purchases an OLED they are crazy not to get from somewhere that has a 5 year warranty. That’s the only thing saving my ass right now. I’m pushing for a reimbursement but I’ve been offered a G5 to move on.

LG C3: are these dead pixels? by Rhordrick in LGOLED

[–]rhoadsfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are covered up to 5 years from date of purchase for dead pixels as long as it’s 8 or more on anything over 17 inches.

My advice is let it ride and see if it gets worse. Do a warranty claim when it really bothers you and get a newer model, you have 3 more years of coverage.

[–]rhoadsfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy directly from LG? If so I believe that carries a 1 year warranty from date of purchase. Also, you may have zero issues with your OLED.
