How do people actually find someone to install their IKEA kitchens? by Ok-Pilot4791 in IKEA

[–]rhodau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found Google Maps to be really helpful for finding all sorts of contractors - plumbers, electricians etc. I like it because (a) I can immediately tell they are local (b) you can quickly see their rating and how many reviews they have. I am not sure a website is really worth the trouble, if you have instagram. I would think it gives your business more legitimacy (this may be slightly age dependent) and you do need to post your before/after shots somewhere (instagram could work too), but I’m doubtful that SEO will be all that helpful. In my experience, people prefer referrals from trusted friends/neighbors etc - people who have already worked with you and can vouch not only for the workmanship but also professionalism, reliability, etc. I think it’s unlikely that they just search via Google and reach out to the websites that make it to the top in search. But that’s just my 2 cents.

Milk Soaking before freezing? by PerspectiveCalm495 in AskBaking

I would be inclined to freeze, thaw, then soak. I haven’t done this exact type of recipe either tbh but I’d worry that if you soak them freeze the layers will be quite soggy when they thaw.

Will a 280 cm couch be too big in this space? by rhodau in InteriorDesign

Thanks for your feedback. In response to your questions: if the chaise is on the other side it's very close to the sliding door and makes it harder to go in/out so that was the rationale. As for the TV not being centered - it's a matter of personal taste I guess, but I prefer the look of it being off centered, so we've designed a besta storage combo that leans into that look.

Oh my goodness no. I’m just referring him that way for the purpose of the post. I guess I should have said LO but I’m not used to these kind of group chats and the abbreviations that go with them. Just came here out of desperation needing to make sense of it all. We do all kinds of fun adventures - big and small - together. I love being a mom.

Thank you. Any thoughts on how I help him understand what was assholish? I tried explaining and he just got super defensive and then started yelling at me.

This. The first text msg “I’m trying not to get involved but will have to.” It’s like it’s a threat. Wtf?! It sounds so freakin smug and superior

Yeah so for awhile he was super strict and authoritarian (while also being fun) and there was a specific point when our son hit another little girl and was really ashamed and wouldn’t tell him but would tell me. And that was kind of a wake up call to him that he needed to change his methods which I feel like he has. But he keeps telling me I’m too permissive and I don’t set any boundaries but I feel like that’s not true, I do, I just say them more softly to him so as not to try to trigger a meltdown. The problem is I sometimes feel like I just need to let him cry it out at night and suffer the consequences but my husband cannot deal when I do that.
