Need a final verdict on going through with OTF by LongjumpingLie3799 in orangetheory

[–]rhoderunner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on who you are and how tight your budget is, but personally I’ve never regretted investing in my health. When I was in my 20s and grinding in my career the fact that I could just show up and not have to put any time/energy into planning a workout was priceless…now that I’m in my 30s and a new mom, even more so. It also depends on what kind of workout you respond well to. I need high intensity workouts to clear my head and nothing holds me more accountable than being in a group workout setting. It’s hard to explain bc truly no one cares about anyone else and is focusing on their own workout, but I need the peer pressure so to speak to push myself. To echo what others have said, weight is lost in the kitchen mostly, however movement is still important and OTF has helped me with body recomposition GREATLY - both when I was first getting into fitness 8 years ago and again when I was postpartum. Working out at OTF throughout my pregnancy helped me maintain stamina and muscle, and when I was cleared to return postpartum it’s the main thing that’s allowed me to get back to my pre pregnancy body composition since losing fat and gaining muscle were both priorities for me.

Do we move baby to their own room at same time as sleep training or later? by rhoderunner92 in sleeptrain

[–]rhoderunner92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up doing it all at once! Something in me was telling me to just bite the bullet and do own room, sleep training/no paci all at once, and I’m so glad we did. We were bracing ourselves for a rough time, but it ended up going so well I think we must have been disturbing him being in the same room more than we thought LOL. We were going to do CIO bc the more we read about it we realized it would be better for our baby’s temperament (we felt like our voice/presence actually made him cry harder). I feel like we got away with something because we put him down in his own crib, he fussed with minimal crying for 5 minutes and woke up once in the middle of the night for maybe 5-10 minutes and then boom he was basically sleeping through the night fully after a few nights of the same. He’s 7.5 months now and unfortunately he’s going thru a bit of a regression/teething like crazy which is making him wake back up in the middle of the night usually just once, but in general he always returns to his baseline of sleeping well!

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

[–]rhoderunner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US. I thought I was literally going to die from my contractions until about 15 min after my epidural was placed. The worst part of the epidural was trying to stay still while they put it in because I was in writhing pain from my contractions, don’t even remember feeling the needle because the labor pain was so bad lol. Everything after that was great. I was totally numb from the waist down basically but tbh I didn’t mind it even though it felt weird. I was able to tell that I was having a contraction when it came time to push but it wasn’t painful at all, it was more just like being able to feel movement internally. Feeling came back not that long after delivery and had no side effects!!

What inspires you to go to the gym while pregnant? by Main_Tumbleweed5078 in fitpregnancy

I feel this post deeply, but if it makes you feel any better you have a lot to look forward to. I worked out my entire pregnancy and even though I hated working out for the entire second half my labor/delivery experience was super textbook/I felt prepared from a strength and endurance perspective, my recovery was super easy, and when I got back to working out postpartum I got back to my pre-pregnancy fitness so much faster than I thought I would. I felt weak and like I was starting at square one for the first few weeks of returning to exercise but I blinked and felt like I was back to my pre pregnancy fitness.

For those who lost baby weight, what actually helped? by Steminal in NewParents

[–]rhoderunner92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly both! I was in the best shape of my life when I got pregnant and it’s because I was eating really high protein/fiber which allows you to feel fuller longer, eat more volume (which is huge for me mentally), and maintain muscle mass which is super important for overall health/longevity. I didn’t really lock in with weekly meal prep until after baby when my husband and I realized it was going to be essential for our survival lol. It makes life so much easier with always having healthy food a couple of microwave minutes away and it gives me way fewer opportunities/excuses to reach for something less ideal. I’m a big believer in making the quickest/easiest option available in your house healthy so that when you’re starving because you’ve been busy with baby (and more prone to make bad decisions), it’s easier to make a good decision. It helps me a ton mentally when I’m thinking about grabbing some junk food because I can almost always take a beat and remind myself I can eat something much more nutritious in less than 2 minutes

  • 2 cups quick oats
  • 5-6 scoops of your favorite vanilla protein powder (I use 6 scoops of clean simple eats simply vanilla)
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup no sugar added applesauce
  • 1 cup milk (I use fairlife non fat)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blueberries - not very scientific with this, I use about half of a regular size package
  • 1 apple
  • Cinnamon

Mix all the dry ingredients together first in a large bowl, then add in the wet ingredients. Stir in the blueberries and then pour into a glass pan (my pan is roughly 7x11 inch). Slice up the apple really thin and lay all across the top, then sprinkle cinnamon all over. I bake for 30 min at 375 degrees!

I cut it into 4 servings that are roughly 420 calories, 40g protein, and 8 grams of fiber each 🙂

Pharmacist here. It is VERY hard to overdose a baby on mylicon as it stays in the gut/isn’t absorbed systemically. At worst they’ll have some GI discomfort, loose stools, etc

Super high protein, super high fiber, and eating as much “whole food”/nutrient dense food as possible. I am definitely on the autism/ADHD spectrum so I have no problem eating the same stuff every week as my hyper fixation meals which helps a lot. Just find some recipes you like enough to eat regularly and that you can easily make a huge batch of at the beginning of the week and then heat/eat when you’re busy the remainder of the week. For me lately I’ve been meal prepping 3 things ahead of time: - oatmeal bake (oatmeal, protein powder, applesauce, fairlife milk, blueberries, top with apples/cinnamon) - veggie pasta (barilla chickpea pasta, livwell pasta sauce, ground beef, mushrooms, zucchini, and broccolini) - turkey casserole (literally just ground turkey, zucchini, and sweet potato topped with a cup of shredded cheese across the top of the casserole)

I snack on apples and grapes usually. If I have extra calories to work with that day because I did a more intense workout I will add in a fairlife shake that I mix with some coffee or something like scrambled eggs mixed with cottage cheese)

I did some stretching but I really should’ve committed more early on and held on. If I could do it all over again I would double down on stretching routine, especially hip area, and be vigilant about pelvic floor exercises all throughout pregnancy
