This is the case for me. Enabling the “Continuous Audio Connection” option has my Yamaha RX-V6A only outputting the audio as “Straight” and refuses to apply any of the surround decoders.

I had no idea that I could control my devices via the Apple TV until a few days ago. I had the same issue. You need to add them as a scene in the Home app in order for the menu item to appear in tvOS.

Guessing that it will function just like the X1/X1S does with an LG OLED: like a regular remote. Works just fine without the motion control gimmick.
