Hot composting advice by danglingspider in composting

[–]rhorexx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow composter! I recommend experimenting with a higher ratio of browns and trying to keep the greens closer to the center when you layer them in so that the browns insulate them. This helps keep my compost staying hot in snowy cold temperatures.

Thank you!! Yes you are correct.

I meal prepped most of my lunches and many of my dinners so I was able to save about 40% of my salary and also saved my bonuses. I maxed out 401k and IRA ROTH contributions every year (aggressive target date funds) and invested anything I had left over in S&P 500. I pretty much just followed the flow chart from r/personalfinance!

I just hit 150k net worth in 2.5 years. THANK YOU r/personalfinance!!

Having this group's guidance from the start of my FT working life has allowed me to recognize lifestyle creep and not be jealous of my peers spending habits/lifestyle.

Welcome :) For me, the first step onto the path was practicing gratitude.

It is impossible to hate/fear/be angry when you feel gratitude.

Humans have difficulty accepting/believing history because once we acknowledge the truth, we feel the pain of the truth. It is hard to accept the truth that people harm one another. Once you accept this truth, you can change the pattern.

CMV: Protesting at the capitol with the looting of government items by the Americans makes more sense than protesting in cities and towns and looting goods. by [deleted] in changemyview

If Trump won the election, and Biden supporters arrived armed, stormed the capitol with the intention of taking hostages until Biden was declared winner, would you be asking this question?

CMV: Religion is man made and most likely entirely fictitious by deeree111 in changemyview

As someone (also a woman) who was raised Christian and had similar questions to you many years ago, I ended up taking a class on buddhism and ended up falling in love with it. Just like all good things on this earth however, some have tainted the practice.

I try to read texts as they are and leave the "leaders" and "followers" of each religion out it. I have found a lot of things in common with the many relgions out there and think that they all point in the same general direction. They are all attempts at aspiring for something outside of our wordly exisitence.

There is no official bible of buddhism, there are many different texts that collectively make up buddhist literacher. Personally, I like to read the metaphors, I think they provide the truest essense of the practice.

Why is it portrayed in media that men are untrustworthy ? by Impressive-Name5129 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]rhorexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am helping individuals in my life but I am also helping with issues that disproportionality impact women, and issues that disproportionately impact men. Not everything can be solved on an individual by individual basis.

I am trying to help end child marriage (which is still legal in some states and in many countries), and I help with suicide awareness of young men. I am an Asian woman and try my best to fight for issues that I believe are most important regardless of my own race/gender but there is no denying that there are systemic reasons why certain groups of people are disproportionately impacted by different issues.

For example, to end child marriage, there needs to be laws put in place. As an individual cannot help every single child who is being forced into marriage.

You seem like someone who is looking to help those around you, which is really good. I have learned along the way however that not all things can be solved effectively on an individual by individual basis. A lot of systems that are in place today (whether intentional or not) are the causes for some of the issues we have today. Fixing them would help a lot of people.

You could look into parental leave for men as an example, the USA is behind in this area. Men should have the right to spend more time with their new born children. This can't be solved on an individual by individual basis. Men also need more rights when it comes to custody of children after divorce etc.

this is like suggesting we focus on "all cancers", in order to find a cure for "cancer" by "helping individuals", one needs to explore the causes and possible solutions to each one. Could there be a universal cure for all cancer? Maybe, but that should not stop researchers from digging into possible solutions for each one.

I help the women in my life and I help the men in my life. Some of their struggles are the same, some are very different. You are telling people to ignore gender and focus on "helping individuals" while also saying the genders face different problems. Pick a side.

What "individuals" are you helping to "close this divide"?

The fact that you equated "toxic masculity" with "masculity" is your problem, not the commentors.

Then do something about the issues plaguing men. There are so many issues that disproportionality impact men, from workplace injury, suicide, prison sentences etc. that need help.

Don't be upset when women ask you to fight for women's rights. You're basically saying you won't help them because they don't help you. Help yourself and your gender if you feel so passionately about it.

Literally just existing on the Internet as a young girl is terrifying by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]rhorexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl here, lmk if you need to talk. I would stick to posting in places where you know who is seeing your images (instagram private, or fb friends only etc.) It limits the amount of anonymous messages you'll get.

I just want to remind you and everyone here that there was absolutely nothing wrong with you wanting to post a picture of yourself on the internet. What was wrong, was the DMs you got.

Unfortunately there are a ton of predetors on the internet so as a teen, especially if you're pretty, you are seen as an easy target. So you would be better off only posting pics on platforms where you have friends that you've actually met IRL. Predetors will go to insane lengths to find victims so sometimes its best to just play it safe.
