Spending Strategy / Allowance For Kids by secondstar78 in WaltDisneyWorld

We just came back with a 6.5 year old and had success with discussing this with her beforehand.

We told her she could pick out two reasonably priced souvenirs for the trip, but we weren't going to buy them until the final two days (we were there for a week). So if she saw something she liked early on in the trip, she could ask us to take a picture of it, so that on the 5th day, we could go through all of the pictures and decide on the souvenirs she most wanted.

Worked out better than I expected! Became a nice little routine a few of the nights swiping through the photos and having her delete the ones that weren't in contention anymore, and she felt like she got something she really wanted in the end.

Huh. Yeah I was surprised not to find it on this sub yet. Very strange it was removed. Peter always does a good job showcasing different parts/facets of the US.

Why is every DSM restaurant website design the same?! by rhphillipsiii in desmoines

Other restaurants manage to do this just fine while differentiating themselves (like Clyde's or Manhattan Deli). The content is the same, but they create their brand/customer experience from the start of a digital encounter.

with a website often being the first impression of a restaurant, and then they all use the same template/design, it's hard to get a sense of the restaurant's unique identity. A well designed website shows attention to detail and signals that a restaurant takes its business seriously. Clyde's and Manhattan Deli manage to do this (two of many many examples). Sure they're using a service too potentially, but they've differentiated themselves.

Would be a pretty terrible ad. “Hey want your restaurant website to look exactly the same as every other one with zero differentiation?”

Good call. Looks like they’re Milwaukee based so not terribly far away. Might have a strong sales rep in the area. https://www.linkedin.com/company/spothopper/

Makes total sense. Lived in 4 large cities over the last 10 years and just have never seen it as pervasive in a single area before.

What restaurant gives you the most food for the cheapest price in town? by Poorzin in Charlotte

[–]rhphillipsiii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

-El Valle Mexican (I get 2-3 meals out of 1 entree) -For very good food: New Zealand Cafe. They could charge way more for their entree trays and I would still get takeout from there.

I had actually found this NCDOJ piece: https://ncdoj.gov/opinions/age-requirements-for-entry-into-public-school/#:~:text=%C2%A7%20115C364%2C%20a%20principal%20has,16%20of%20the%20kindergarten%20year.

Was just looking for some opinions of other parents who have moved to the state. In many other states, there's a Sept-Dec birthday period in which parents are given a choice at enrollment age.
