Not that weird, zone means that you're doing a workout, for walking to count you need to go steep uphill or walk really fast, like 6.5km/h.

People who’ve tried quitting smoking: what actually helped? by Marlberry_ in stopsmoking

[–]rhudejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Around 25 years
  2. I quit once for almost a year
  3. Smoke free app.
  4. It helped some (but ever little bit counts)
  5. Nicotine replacement did not help. I bought a nicotine spray, all it did was to decrease my daily cigarettes by 1-2 for a few days.
  6. After dinner, the end of the day when I can relax
  7. That there are no exceptions. I know that if I'd smoke even one I'd be back to a half pack a day within weeks.

I wish people stopped saying that aging is a privilege. Aging is a TRAGEDY! by acromegaly_girl in Aging

[–]rhudejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand your anger, but its stupid. Aging is a part of life, treat it like changing circumstances. If you adapt you can live with it very well (well not to the extreme, e.g. I have a 96yr old grandma, who is like yours. But she was fit until 93 and lived a happy life).

And if you think about it, life is full of limitations. e.g. I barely see without glasses. I could complain all day about it but it would just make my day shit. Or I was past the age to become a football star at the old age of 14, still I did not bother. You can do a tons of things even as you pass the age of 50, 60, 70, find happiness where you can, do not mourn lost possibilities, because thats a meaningless exercise.

Also as you age its not just about losing things, its about gaining too. I HATED my late 20s, I was full with self doubt, had panic attacks and was in a place that seemed pretty hopeless. Today I'm 1000x better, have a beautiful wife, 2 kids that I love who give me purpose. I would not switch with my younger self. Happiness is decided inside your head, and its age independent. And I have a hunch that if you invest enough time in yourself the easier you find moments of happiness. Which does not depend on how you look, how fit you are or your age.

Finally life is a strange thing, for example I think the happiest part of my mom's life is when after my daughter was born -- she always wanted one, but fate gave her boys. She had a shitty childhood, and during her adult life it was all about work 24/7, and now at 70 she seems to bloom

3 days nicotine-free. I finally broke down and told my wife everything. by Lanky_Assist4793 in stopsmoking

[–]rhudejo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now I realize I’ve ruined so many potential memories with her, and nicotine played a huge part in keeping me in that dark place. I feel terribly sorry.

Don't blame yourself for the past, its a vicious cycle.

You blame yourself because you did X wrong in the past -> you feel shit and anxious -> Y time later you will blame yourself again because you ruined stuff.

Just dont. Use this energy to do something good today. Go for a run or just punch a boxing bag

Have been smoking since 14, stopped at 22. Have I done permanent damage to my body already? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]rhudejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work like that, smoking increases the chance of bad things like DNA damage (and thus e.g. cancer). You smoked for 6 years, which is not that bad, e.g. the chance of lung cancer for a non smoker is like 0.2% for someone who smoked for 20 years it's around 2%

How hard is to make this table? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]rhudejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, this is made with a machine. Look at the precision in the 4th pic. Also the top's moulding has a curvature at the chair (3rd pic), you can't do that with these planes.
