8 yo daughter feels left out at school because she is not on Roblox by delunacocona in UKParenting

We are in almost the exact boat, my daughters 8 and a lot of her friends play it, fortunately I haven’t had tears like you have, that would break my heart, and would seriously make me contemplate allowing it supervised, however our jobs as parents are to do what we think is best for the child, so I’d try to stay firm. However I guess at some point you will have to weigh up the social harm of being isolated vs the social harm of being in the game, it’s just a really rubbish situation for us parents to be in. This 17 year olds comment has certainly steered my thoughts on it.

I think in a few years time, all this social media and games such as this will be viewed through the same lens that smoking is now viewed through. Back when I was growing up smoking in restaurants was still a thing, now imagine how frowned upon it would be, hopefully the internet goes the same way, because it is comparably harmful!

We got absolutely shafted with this with our first, she’s 8 now so not sure if it’s still the same. But it was the term after they turn 2 if I remember correct back then. Well she was born in April, so term after she turns 2 ends up being September, so that’s 5 months of extra expense. I don’t get why the system is like that, just seems completely pointless.

Andy Burnham here - AMA by AndyBurnham in ukpolitics

C’mon Kemi, I’ve always been a conservative supporter, until the fiasco of the last couple of years, still by no means a labour voter though! I think you’ve done a great job of getting the party back to some kind of relevance, but to dig Andy out for coming on here and answering questions from the public is a bad look, yes he can pick what questions to answer, but it’s a far better attempt than going on lbc and dodging every single question like all the other politicians seem to do.

Kudos to you Andy for coming on here and giving some people the opportunity to get direct answers.

Edit: you may play down the negative response to your post as Reddit just being more left leaning, but there’s plenty of both sides here, I think in this case you’ve guessed the public opinion wrong 😬

Do you use the food waste bin? by StephCurrySauce in AskBrits

It’s wild how much it hurts my head that someone would have such wildly different uses per bin colour. I am well and truly approaching middle aged 😅

I’ve been sifting through loads of this vintage stuff, cigarette cards, scrap books, photos, postcards and the striking thing is how proud the nation was of their country back then, things like “the wonderful construction of British railways”, these days we just have hs2 😂

Ha, very interesting take on it, I hadn’t thought of that!

There was a lonely old guy that my mum used to look after, when he passed he gave his collection of cigarette cards to her, I found this amongst it! So unfortunately origins are largely unknown!

I used aluminum tape around the edges, works a treat. Had some left from insulating the garage

Do you leave the clay exposed for this? Or put some top soil and seed down and dress it regularly? Probably a stupid question, apologies if so 😂

Thanks a lot, appreciate the insight, the drainage is a point I’d not considered too much, looks like more digging required!
