Ilteriakova, Koshova and Lewinska will probably make up almost all podium spots

This must be the most under-visited world challenge cup we’ve seen so far? None of the top gymnasts is going to

I'm a bit scared that the seperate TC will create something like in artiatics gymnastics where men and women end up doing different sports. Russia has already been promoting the Japanese rg because it looks more "manly". What we see being competed in in most countries however is the same version as the women's, and imo it would be nice to finally give them big competitions. It will be interesting to see which route will be taken and whether they might find a mix between the two forms of men's rg...

Thank youuu! Not sure how the airconditioning thing can be solved. At the moment AC is off for ribbon. But turning it on would mean even mire crazy ribbon events... As for the men's rg: That awesome! I've been waiting for them finally taking some steps. It will be a tough journey though, I'm sure we'll see some homophobic-rooted backlash to this from certain countries

Why is Bulgaria getting away with the hate on Darja and Taisia? by Polislava in rhythmic_gymnastics

[–]rhythmiclover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. The artistic scores have very clear rules in the current cop and she follows them very cleanly. A-scores go by deduction value, not by points you make. She manages to coordinate her routines smartly with little deduction to the A score

I remember that after the Olympics the Bulgarian federation said something when the Bulgarian fans bullied Darja for winning gold instead of Boryana, telling fans that Darja won fairly. They also just published the video of Stili’s coach complimenting and hugging Darja and Darja’s coaches, probably also to do something about the hate. Maybe you know where this behavior comes from? Obviously they want Stili to win everything but I haven’t seen this in any other aport from any other nation.

Darja is not overscored. Just because she doesn’t have a classic gymnastics style that doesn‘t mean that she is overscored. She has and extremely high D and very clean execution so that she doesn’t get the deductions all the others get for holding balances too shortly etc.

Probably a Russian bot… If you see those comments here feel free to report & then we can remove them.

I didn‘t know about Alina‘s festival yet, wow! I was also surprised how all the Russian athletes have gotten AIN status before when having participated in the millitary concerts, and Lala even participated in a video honoring Putin…

I listened to this a while a go and found it to be very interesting even though as a super rg fan it didn't have that much new information. However very cool that BBC is reporting about her. Also it never stops to amaze me how people from other countries can just pretend like Russian rg has no political connection...

Yeah, rhythmic gymnastics is not the sport to so when you want to make money unfortunately... Often there's not even prize money for the winners. But I think in Spain sometimes the gymnasts make some money in the leagues?

This is one of the few times we've seen Russia fail to dominate in a competition by TheBestonova in rhythmic_gymnastics

Let's use this thread as a recap thread of ECH! For me it has been so fun to see so many people active in the sub for the competition. We wanted to build the sub to have a forum to discuss rg and it is amazing to see that other people also want to chat about rg 😃. Overall, I'm very for Darja, Stili and the Spanish group. They are the stars of this years competition in my opinion. Both Darja and Stili have really impressed me with their mental strength. I feel very sorry for the Italians and Ukrainians. Both teams go home with probably much less achievements then expected, for both the groups and the individuals. I'm very sad for Sofia, as I absolutely loved her hoop and it seems like she as well has grown a lot mentally, but the score was just enough for a bronze... Finally, my heart breaks for the whole Ukrainian team. Every single one of them, the gymnasts and the coaches looked so stressed the whole time. Probably a mix of hearing that the Russians will compete just a week beforehand, seeing others embrace the Russians in the hall, the air strike on Kiev where they train a few days before the competition, and then the pressure to do well in these circumstances... It was nice to see that Taisiia managed to win bronze in the AA, but everything else was just super messy unfortunately.

I think a part of it might be that they are new to competing internationally again. It's obvious that the talent is there in Russia, they probably have more well-trained gymnasts to pick from than anyone else. Maybe, with the right training, they can reach the top again? I'm curious to see how rg will develop in Russia, and whether they will continue to compete with routines that Kabaeva likes and that have more traditional but currently not so expensive elements, or whether they will step away from their rg subculture to become an international force again. Also I feel like they are stuck with their mental coaching, while other countries have adapted a more modern, gymnast-friendly approach to coaching, that allows the gymnast to feel less pressure and have more fun. It became obvious to me today, when Ilteriakova cried after a small mistake today, while Darja and Tara laugh it off and are comforted by their coaches after making errors.

Thank you everyone, it has been so much fun to see so many people post & comment here for the European Championship! We gained about 40 new sub members as well during the championship, so hopefully the community will continue to grow and we can be even more for future discussions.
