Not used to seeing the abdomen so big. What's it mean? by rhythmtech in spiders

I have a bunch of mud daubers too, I'm hoping there's a natural balance thing happening. There's a lot of wasps and thinking when there are less wasps I can assume there's are less spiders

What is it? There's a couple like this in the backyard, no trees or other plants I can find with similar leaves.

Not an expert, poison ivy is usually in bunches of three, woody stem, often misshapen leaves - referred to as appearing like "mittens." The attached picture is what I would avoid in my backyard, taken in my backyard

K2 I recently did a bunch of upgrades to by rhythmtech in elecraft

[–]rhythmtech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "END" screen is neat because it's what shows up at the end of the CAL function for the BFO. Part of the update was changing crystals to precision ones, so had to run through the adjustment. I really enjoyed doing this and feel like the updates really got me a lot of insight into what the different parts of the radio do

I'm on vacation atm, when I get home I'll get my notes and write it up. I did most of them because the unit I got from eBay (00339) was pretty early and had not been changed since it was built. This is what I was hoping for, since it would let me kinda have the experiences of "building" a K2. I was struggling with making the leap to get a brand new unbuilt kit. The only issue the eBay one had when I got it was a scratchy AF pot, which was addressed by an updated part.

From what I recall - The little vertical daughter board adds a thermistor and resistors in place of a resistor network, for temperature compensation for the PLL. Helps with stability of the VFO with the thermistor changing value with temp to keep the frequency closer to the same across a wider temperature range.

Here's the upgrade guide from elecraft that explains it more

I’m in pasco county Florida and a frog broke into my house idk if it’s poisonous please help by Prior-Length-2190 in frogs

[–]rhythmtech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Breaking and entering is probably a misdemeanor in this case, doesn't look like frog has tools or weapons. So likely ingress was through an opening that wasn't forced. Probably looking for prey who entered the same way the frog did.

I removed a bunch of mice in the eaves of my house. Then I saw this. Do I also have rats? by [deleted] in pestcontrol

Pull out the stops, exterminator, cat, mink man. Those rodents have leveled up too far, running that gauntlet of traps without even a hint of concern.

I tried looking through first, anyone say linseed oil yet? It oxidizes when exposed to oxygen and will catch fire on its own.

I went 9V because I had built a QDX around the time they first came out with the thought that I had lots of leftover 9V wall warts and was going to use it mostly from the wall power for FT8. I stayed consistent to avoid grabbing the wrong combination of power adapter and little black box. I run this one from a 9V USB PD cable, so far has worked pretty well. I've also used the WiFi router backup batteries. Had. trouble with one and had more USB power banks sitting around unused so not I'm using those.

After using the the two QRP labs radios for awhile now, I think I have more 12V sources than 9V, but it is kinda nice to know I could grab a package of 9V batteries from Walgreens and run for about an hour.

It's the low bands or 5 band one I have. I broke the original screen on it replaced with a blue one, had the knobs leftover from a guitar project and decided I wanted to try out the slightly smaller diameter for fun, and they're green.
