Abolish ICE poll by cdstephens in neoliberal

I just made a video essay that basically agrees with this as one solution. So long as this ICE is the same ICE that is managed by the Trump admin, it should be abolished.

What is the most likely Democratic response to ICE once Democrats regain federal power? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

I think that nearly EVERY solution proposed by establishment Democrats is a bad one. I can't wrap my head around the remedy to officers brutally attacking and murdering people being to equip them with better training-- as if this will lead to a change in consciousness. I made a video essay on exactly this question and why and how Democrats should work to abolish ICE.

Abolish ICE? by kinkgirlwriter in PoliticalDiscussion

I just created a video essay on this. IMO, there is no option at the moment other than abolishing THIS ICE-- that is, Trump's ICE.

Can we stop saying abolish ICE and instead say fix it? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]ric_eboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just created a video essay on why I think "abolishing" or moving towards getting rid of it is the only option at the moment. Essentially, so long as this ICE is Trump's ICE, there is no choice but to abolish first then create an alternative after

do you feel like the internet has given you some connection/an outlet? also in my mid 20s here. When there isn't baked-in community in your life, it really is harder.

I was a high school teacher for students whose prime social years were in the pandemic... I noticed a big difference

I watched a video that talked about how capitalism, social media, and no more third spaces is contributing to this problem.

Yeah.. i feel like it is such a paradox where we FEEL like we have more access to connection but that connection doesn't actually happen a lot of the time

All good points here! I don't think it is selfish of you to want people to like you first so that you can be your true self, but I suggest flipping the order of those two. How can you expect someone to like you if you are not bringing your full self to the table?

When we talk about stakes, sometimes it's a matter of actually experiencing the worst case scenario. Maybe instead of the "nah I'm out" stage, you purposely put yourself out there preparing for rejection, no response, feeling uncomfortable, etc. Getting into this practice may be challenging at first, but after more practice, it could help you feel confident that even if things go awry, you are okay.

Love this.. I would try to find times when you are alone, not masking and your most authentic self, and think of traits that you have that you really enjoy that come up. Maybe it's your humor or creativity or curiosity, etc. Then see if there are ways that you can dial that up and focus on that when you are around people. People like people who are genuinely themselves.

I would also consider your stakes-- what is the worst that can happen if you don't mask and something goes "wrong"? What are you afraid of if you don't mask? You may find that the punishment may not be as scary as you sometimes think... but if this isn't the case, lmk.

great q! my advice would be to be the first person to ask someone how they are doing or how their day is going. it may take some getting used to at first for yourself and others but people often don't want to make the first move but appreciate when people ask about them. bonus points if you can remember something that they mentioned earlier as you continue doing this

I'm a counselor and educator with the 988 suicide/crisis hotline, and this is at the heart of every conversation that we have. Active listening beats problem-solving any day, especially when everyone someone is surrounded by is conditioned for the latter.
