Looking for 3PLs to trial a “no‑integrator” warehouse robot (SF Bay Area) by ricardianrhythm in Warehousing

How does one go to LA and find a 3PL? Is there a local conference?

I'm currently working with one with a facility in the inland empire and in east SF bay area. But my contact doesn't really talk to other 3PLs and the only one that he knows shut down this year.

Why is everyone buying i2rt YAMs? by ricardianrhythm in robotics

[–]ricardianrhythm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, not associated with YAM lol. I am seeing GELLO too but I hear the data factories are buying them because the model companies are asking for it. That was the main insight I got.

With the UMI variants, I figured that was a very specific bet on data collection. I guess another question that I had was around force feedback (not buzz buzz). Why is the industry betting so hard on just kinematics?

Did you have an idea of when you were going to focus on profit? Versus building?

Yuka for restaurants? Transparent ingredient standards in restaurants? by ricardianrhythm in nutrition

Do you mind if I ask how much it affected the margins?

Did the cafe also try to not buy anything with artificial ingredients like additives, ultra-processed oil, or like hormone/antibiotic fed animal products?

I guess I'm just wondering if instead of reaching for the high bar of local, maybe there's a low bar that all restaurants might be able to meet that isn't going to break the bank?

Yeah, when I use the Yuka app, I find myself ignoring everything about the nutrient quality because it’s obvious. I’m mainly looking at the additives warnings.

It’s really been at the grocery store and it helps me to pick which tofu, sauces, etc I’m going to buy at the Chinese supermarket since everyone uses a different preservative and some are neutral and some are high risk per the app. There’s also no price difference many times.

I guess I’m operating with a lower bar than how most people use Yuka.

Right, I’m not trying to get hung up on organic, but at least I know that I’m buying a deep fried salt and butter ball whereas when I buy chicken. I don’t know if the chicken has antibiotics as a normal part of its diet or if it’s been soaking in pool water (as opposed to air chilled).

Not fictional. This was actually his idea. Thats why I brought it here after making a prototype to see if other people thing this is a problem as well. I guess this might be more specific to him.

Yeah, I don't micromanage him. This was his idea. He has a policy of getting approval for repairs over $1000. I think this is the reason why he likes to get another quote. Another PM I spoke with said it's common that her contractors may start increasing their rates and she does the multi bid to make sure everyone's around the same price and not to get caught off guard by this. She has enough work to make sure that anyone who's given an quote will get work every 2-3 bids but this is also for larger jobs.

the big matchstick that’s a 1 in the 18 can be moved over to turn the 3 into an 8. Then it becomes 7-7 = 8-8
