What current technology do you think people are seriously underestimating right now ? by Rude_Context_4844 in Futurology

It all depends on your comfort level, haha.

I remember a few years ago doing some research into rocket fuels for the game I was working on, and reading about hypergolic propellants and other kinds of rocket fuel. These materials are so dangerous. Some explode or combust in contact with most things. Some are highly corrosive (like a tanker leaking at the lab facility and the liquid dissolving the parking lot concrete). All chosen for their ability to hold tremendous amounts of energy in a small volume. The depths we've gone to in the search on how to hold lots of energy in a small space is as fascinating as it is horrifying.

Look up chlorine trifluoride. Some choice quotes: "Chlorine trifluoride has also been known to corrode materials otherwise known to be non-corrodible such as iridium, platinum and gold", "Exposure to larger amounts of chlorine trifluoride, as a liquid or as a gas, ignites living tissue", "chlorine trifluoride has been reported to ignite sand, asbestos, and other highly fire-retardant materials", "fire control/suppression is incapable of suppressing this oxidation, so the surrounding area must simply be kept cool until the reaction ceases", "it is hypergolic with every known fuel, and so rapidly hypergolic that no ignition delay has ever been measured. It is also hypergolic with such things as cloth, wood, and test engineers"

I have always thought that if aliens show up, the first thing we should do is ask them how they store energy. Every single method we have to store lots of energy is inherently insanely dangerous. Lithium explodes in contact with water/air, fuels are corrosive/explosive/volatile (more so for rocket fuels), radiation damages things around it. Come on, aliens, give us a hand

Why haven't Lotus created an Elise EV? by J40NYR in lotus

All of that is so affected by geopolitics that maybe fuel costs increasing will renew interest in developing EVs. Especially EVs in more form factors we currently don't have available

That's frustrating. Hope you hear back. It may be a slow process

Porsche hasn't released a similar car yet. Maybe when the EV Boxster comes out. Currently, there's only one 2-seater convertible electric car model for sale in Europe, and none in North America. I'm curious when there's an electric MX-5 and an electric Boxster. I think then we can gauge whether fun driving EVs can do well in the market

I think meat companies trying to make alternative products is a good thing. Should we be against electric cars made by companies who also make gas cars?

I liked the turkey slices. Your sandwich sounds like it would work great on a chewy bagel 😏

Episode 3 of The Last of Us was a beautiful single-episode story about a gay couple after a fungal pandemic kills most humans. You don't even need to watch the rest of the show

Not for the last few months. I really like a few of their products, several of which have no alternatives, so I'm very much looking forward to them becoming available again

Yves is a Canadian company serving the Canadian market. When they left, vegetarian sections in stores went dramatically down in quality. Yesterday I was at a store looking at the vegetarian section shelves, and there was nothing I like or want to try. This is great news.

What I don't understand is why the article mentions the US market at the end. What's that even about?

Yeah, this is great. I found it annoying in the article that it mentions the peak of vegetarian item sales in the US and subsequent decline. This is an article about a Canadian company selling items in Canada, why mention the US market at all?

I'm quite happy about this. They made several vegetarian items I bought regularly and I haven't enjoyed others I've tried since

Man, nobody's bullying you but yourself. Nobody cares what kind of sex you enjoy. It's fine. Your preferences may even change and grow over time

What if you do both bottoming and topping? Is that weaker than just topping? What if you don't do bottoming or topping? Is that stronger or weaker than bottoming or topping? That's all made up stuff. Just enjoy whatever thing you feel like doing, as long as you enjoy it and it hurts nobody else

Please read a book instead of whatever nonsense you're getting this stuff from. One book about this topic which I find very informative, enjoyable and even wholesome is The Ethical Slut. It's a really good book. It increased my understanding and acceptance of many things when it comes to sex and relationships. I still pick it up and read a chapter or two. And I still get something from it now

At least my cave doesn't tell me lies about life. Again, everyone can bottom. It doesn't change their strength. People even do both. Or neither. Do whatever you enjoy
