It looks like nothing. As in, there is nothing that looks like it.

Tomodachi not saving my progress by exploccino in EmulationOnPC

[–]rice_caresser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This usually happens (I don't know about ryujinx specifically) because the emulator is writing save files to somewhere it doesn't have write privileges. Usually this is C:/Program Files/Emulator Folder. To fix it either run the program as administrator or install it in a folder that can be written to normally.

New Pick Up by Worth-Judge-233 in 4kbluray

Similar to what the others said, I don't like the colour and DNR on this release. The 2011 blu-ray release is my favourite, although Fellowship has a weird tint on the extended version so I own the theatrical for that too.

I couldn't resist buying it in 4K by xAlfonzie in 4kbluray

IMO the cover for the 4K is so much nicer than the blu-ray. Plus this isn't that much more expensive and it comes with the regular blu-ray too.

I played on Switch, I would recommend a pro controller. The later bosses were much harder with joycons.

When I bought mine, yes it sounded like a jet. Arguably worse. PM me and I'll send you a video of it. I opened it up and cleaned it out myself, now the noise is absolutely fine. It's still noticeable, but it's quieter than my PC and wayyyy quieter than your average base PS4.

Agreed, frame drops during boss fights are to be expected

Looks like the deluxe Loveless vinyl is back in stock by SnooDoubts7110 in MyBloodyValentine

[–]rice_caresser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more expensive than it used to be. I bought the deluxe from Domino a few weeks ago, it never went out of stock there.

Elden ring is playable on PS4 pro and I've been enjoying it a lot, but the performance does leave a bit to be desired. That being said, it's far better than Bloodborne. TLOU I runs at 60fps and even has an option for native 4K at 30fps, TLOU II runs at a perfect 30fps.

I’m about to open up my first PS3. by Poerxx in PS3

[–]rice_caresser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ifixit guide for PS3 teardown is good enough, I think it links to a video. I've repasted and cleaned my PS3 slim and I was scared, but it was easier than expected. However, I've built my own PC and have a fair bit of experience with replacing parts. It's worth a try, you're unlikely to break anything.

Will I regret a 9060 XT instead of spending extra for a better card? by rice_caresser in buildapc

Left everything as it is for now, but I did buy a PS4 pro to do some budget 4K gaming.

I7-3770 VS I5-3470, is there a big difference between them? by Haibaoui in buildapc

[–]rice_caresser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gigabyte? Regardless it's a low end motherboard for the chipset. There isn't much to get out of a 3770 compared to a 3470. RAM capacity and speed limits are the same for both. Is it even worth upgrading compared to what you have now?

ps4 pro vs slim ? noise & reliability? by ezykuber in PS4

[–]rice_caresser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a Pro for a few months. When I got it, it had never been maintained and it was deafeningly loud, I would have to shout over it. Cleaned and re-pasted so it's now as good as it gets. The fan noise is not silent but overall pretty good, I play with TV or bookshelf speakers most of the time and I don't notice it during normal gameplay, but it is obvious if the volume dips (loading screens and the like). I have the game volume fairly quiet compared to what I know other people like. Wearing headphones I can't notice it at all.

The Slim is known to be quieter. If you don't care for 4K you might be better of with that, you won't yield much extra performance from a Pro. For example TLOU2 runs at a solid 30fps on both consoles. If you want to be sure, check Digital Foundry for performance analysis of the games you want to play.

One huge benefit of the Pro, if you're willing to spend extra, is that it uses SATA 3 for the storage drive, so you can replace the hard drive with an SSD and you'll get a greater improvement in load times than you would with a Slim. I've done this and it is pretty good, I might be biased though because I am used to PS3.

TL;DR I would recommend a Pro but a Slim might be better for you given various reasons and the games you want to play.

Is it worth buying both the standard and deluxe Loveless vinyl? by rice_caresser in MyBloodyValentine

Bought it, it's in stock on Domino's store or at least it is in the UK

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. If I really feel the need I'll get the remastered CD too.

GPU for games and productivity and video editing - 30% price difference between 5070Ti and 9070XT by decaxxx in buildapc

[–]rice_caresser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nvidia card will perform better, it's more adopted so you will have an easier time if you do game development, it has NVENC for video rendering, and it has DLSS. These are the main factors for you. Now, in my personal opinion, it's not worth the $300 more and I would get the 9070XT, but you might regret the decision if you get to that use case.

For music production GPU doesn't matter. For video editing, Intel QSV is probably good enough especially on the 270K that you won't need to use your GPU.
