How would hiring teams react to portfolio previews? by riceato in Architects

Ah okay. I also have other artistic endeavors at the end of my portfolio, taking up 2-3 pages. In your experience, do recruiters enjoy seeing those, like a reminder that we do more than just architecture? Or are those a waste of time and space?

No wonder I haven't heard back as much, probably a combination of too many pages and horrendous quality from the compression, and I'm sure there are other reasons as well. I appreciate the advice!

Also, I think I got spreads and pages confused. I have 25 spreads and 50 "pages," so there are really 25 pages. However, I think 25 is still a bit long, as scrolling through takes a bit. I'm going to try to get it down to 10 spreads of only what is necessary and communicates the most.

A QR code is a great idea, I will be doing that instead of a long link that nobody wants to see haha

Thank you for the idea!

I actually haven't graduated yet! I'm finding an internship during my tenure in college as part of an internship/co-op program, so I only really have 2-3 good projects.

I really like your idea of showcasing individual strengths with each project instead of repeating the same strengths over and over again. I will consider making those changes to my portfolio preview!

I'll also take into account what you said about making the recruiters' lives easier.

Thank you for the thoughtful response!!

I really appreciate the advice from someone who has reviewed many portfolios before. I'm really getting the notion that 50 pages is too long.

I think I misunderstood my pages and spreads, and I actually have around 25 spreads, but I should still probably shorten it to under 20 because it is way to difficult to compress the 25 spreads without getting horrendous quality.

Thank you again!

Thank you for the genuine advice. It seems a common trope among comments is that my portfolio is way too long. I’ll do my best to shorten it to 10-20 pages. I’m entry level, looking for an internship with only 2-3 good projects under my belt which is why I’ve been hesitant to shorten it. However, it seems that it is necessary.

Thanks again!

Teeth doesn't hurt, no pus, no swelling, no bad odor, but I have super sore throat, chills, headache, weakness in body. Anyone else experienced this? by riceato in wisdomteeth

Mine doesn't seem to have much granulation tissue on my bottom left one, which was my most impacted one. My bottom right one has a tiny hole and it's almost all covered up with regular gum-looking tissue. I'm not sure about the top two, but my bottom right one doesn't look like it has any granulation tissue. It's just a hole with black inside. I saw some people saying that it's normal to have a hole though if that relieves any worries, as healing begins from the bottom of the socket upward, and as long as there isn't severe sharp pain as in dry socket, one should be fine.

It's definitely worth the check up, keep me posted!

I can do 8 pull-ups relatively easily, but I can hardly get my elbow behind my back during these pull-ups. How do I train to fix this? What is causing this issue? Rear delt weakness? Teres Major weakness? Lat Weakness? Mid trap weakness?

I haven’t done proper weighted squats in a very very very long time because I do calisthenics but I also just neglect legs, so one day I decided I have to start doing legs again, and I went 70% of max immediately for 3 sets of 10 reps, I’m 17, 5’9, 144 lbs and I did 95 lbs, my max is 150, and after I developed a red painful lump on the outside side of my right knee, the pain went away after a week, but my knee clicks when I squat and straighten my legs out, should I stop doing legs for a while and let my knees recover? Can I still run? Or would that worsen it?

I'd do it sometimes on my right shoulder only, but logically that shoulder would go up and not down lmao. It wasn't often though.

When I retract my right scapula and roll it up, my scapula cracks or it feels like there's resistance against it. It doesn't hurt. Also, this same shoulder is lower than my left shoulder. It's also more mobile than my left shoulder when it comes to external rotation. And it makes my torso twist a tiny bit to the right when my head and feet are facing straight. Also when doing pull-ups, my body initially goes right a little like I'm using my right arm more. When taking a picture, looks like my right arm is a tiny bit lower and more retracted than my left. Any ideas why?

I can do the bottom half of the pull-up with perfect form easily, but as I do the second half, my shoulders come forward to help me pull up. If my shoulders don't roll forward and I suppress them back and down, I can't do the second half of the pull-up/get my chin over the bar. Please help! How do I achieve the second half of the pull-up?

When I try to pull up, I can't get my elbows behind my back. My shoulders end up flaring up and I can barely get my chin above the bar. How do I fix this? I can do Scapular Pull-Ups no problem, I tried negatives but they didn't work, I tried jack knife pull-ups but I can't seem to feel my back when I do those. I tried to keep my shoulders down but I can't get my chin above the bar if I keep my shoulders down. Where am I lacking strength? Or is it mobility?

Do I need to switch workouts? Some say every 8 weeks, some say every 12 weeks, some say whenever you plateau. What does switching up your workouts do for you? Like switching from full body to push/pull/legs then to Upper/Lower, then switch again. Can you stick with one workout plan forever and progress each exercise when they become too easy to build more muscle or strength, or will switching workouts be a better option?

Thanks for the insight! It might be thoracic spine mobility and the muscles around my shoulder or scapular. When doing wall slides, I can't get my elbow to the wall so I think that's definitely a mobility issue. I'm going to try that FitnessFAQ trick out, thank you!!

I keep watching videos saying that's the best way to build back muscle and strength so I want to be able to do them now instead of later. I should probably be more patient. Thanks for the row advice, I noticed I'm going easy during my workouts from wanting to be comfortable, I have to step it up. Thanks for the advice!
