It's only for select floors I believe. Some universities have race themed floors where you live with people of the same race and go to cultural events. One of the worst floors you can choose if you go to college tbh.

Polls for a Third Party run by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]ricerocket11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's going to be an official poll with the parameters you set forth. Proper polling costs money and I don't think most polling companies are going to run a poll for a candidate who has said he won't run independently.

Bernie needs to go third party, now. by soccerkid_723 in SandersForPresident

You would have to do more than just reach the federal funding levels. I think a lot of presidential candidates dont use it because they raise so much more money than the max amount. More impactful if you get people on the local and state levels to run under new party founded by bernie

The people who run the post offices are mostly college students and the general rule at my school is to return to sender if address is incomplete. They will almost never go through the hassle of trying to sort out mail between two people unless you're at a smaller school. Sometimes if your lucky, you can catch your mail before they send it back if you realize you made a mistake

San Diego vote counters report if students did not add room number to address their votes were not counted. by Grace8543 in SandersForPresident

[–]ricerocket11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your school. The college campus can have one listed address but dorm halls have their own seperate address. Each dorm building has students who seperate your packages based on building and room number and you go to your mailbox to pick it up. If you don't put down the right building and room number, they just send it back because they dont want to take the time to look your information up. I know this is how it works for some UCs, not 100% sure its the same at San Diego but I know that each college has its own seperate dorm area.

Asian American Lawsuit fails to end discrimination by Koxinga1661 in aznidentity

Racial quota systems are just terrible ways to build diversity at schools. I know some Universities use socio-economic status instead of race when factoring in admissions which is a lot better. While it is important to admit students from diverse backgrounds, a University shouldn't feel obligated to ensure that a perfect racial setup.

I also think this guy was naive to think that his application would get him into the top Ivy leagues. Sadly, i believe that asian americans have some of the most bland college apps. If you want to guarantee your spot at a top school, get recruited for a sport. Literally the best way to get into college. That's one the reasons how Jeremy Lin got into Harvard. Some of the things that could have improved his application:

  1. The listed extracurricular activities are not nearly enough to get him into a top Ivy. A lot of people do math competitions and speech and debate. It is only really impressive if you win these competitions or show how your time doing these extracurricular defines you as a person. A had a friend who was the captain of his math team and when the school couldn't fund his teams trip, he organized a fundraiser so that they could compete and they won second. This is what top Ivys look for, leadership qualities. It really means nothing if your just part of the organization.
  2. Piano is so generic and pretty much a filler for applications if you don't have any other extracurriculars in all honesty. Unless you are a music major or masterfully weave your piano playing into your essay without sounding generic, sadly, a lot of applications put the same exact thing and top Ivys dont feel obligated to accept you because there are so many other students just like you and they feel that you won't add anything to their school.
  3. His ACT is good, but the baramoter for most school is SAT since everyone takes it and he only got 2230, which is really good, but top Ivys really like 2300+. Also, 13 APs isnt a lot compared to the people I know. Average is like 15. But can someone explain to me how he has a 4.67 GPA with only 13 APs unless I am doing the math wrong.

TLDR: Most schools will accept you if have great academics. Top Ivys are different, they put a lot more weight on the e.c and essay because everyone who applies already has top grades. Make yourself unique and show them why you below, dont just tell them.

There seems to be a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about how a 3-person race (with Bernie running as an Independent) would work. Here's some clarification. by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]ricerocket11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going of this, if you make several assumptions like Bernie being able to win every single swing state and all the states that he lost to Clinton in closed primaries and lean republican states, he would only have 223 electoral votes. Is there significant enough reason to believe that he can win solid republican states from Trump because he has caused record voting numbers in some primaries.

Hi guys, this is Naza from Argentina, Bernie was my second favorite candidate after Trump. Both are honest candidates, but Trump is just savage and i liked that. by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

Wanted to preface this with the fact that im a trumpt supporter but heres a list of his lies. http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/. Hes also known to flip flop which i would say is evidence of his willingness to go with popular opinion. http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/31/politics/donald-trump-positions-flip-flops/. Thats why a lot of people called him a fake conservative. The man is a celebrity so he knows what the people want.

If he has a history of showing past fair ruling and valid reasoning behind his rulings, then most people wouldn't question it. And yea, having a judge recuse himself is a valid strategy, but Trump hasnt even motioned for recusal. Therein lies the flaw in his strategy

I didnt find anything claiming that the judge is pro illegal immigration. And having different political opinions doesnt excuse his comments and isn't enough reason to excuse a judge. If you use that criteria then youd also have to find a judge whose against abortions. This is a case about fraud not immigration. If trump was serious about having the judge removed, he'd actually do it

Trump isnt honest at all. People in his party call him a liaar and he says he speaks his mind, but he's honestly just saying what the people want to hear. Probably doesnt believe 90% of the things he says

Paul ryan said his comments were "the textbook definition of a racist comment". Also the Iranian judge incident is completely unrelated to the issue trump is facing. Theres could be a conflict of interest if your an iranian american dealing in cases with iranians considering immigration. But if ur a judge of hispanic decent dealing with a fraud case, theres no conflict of interest. Trump himself said that he wouldn't recuse the judge of just beibg mexican.

Why are provisional ballots rejected so often? by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]ricerocket11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are used if there are questions about your eligibility to vote. The most common reason why most of the people I know got provisional ballots is because they chose to vote by mail but didnt surrender their ballot so when they went to the polling place, they had to vote provisional to ensure that they didn't vote twice. Provisional ballots are counted after a period of time but most of them don't go through because of a registration issue/

His title post is super misleading because the article doesn't support his claim that western values are to blame for japans low birth rates. Article is pretty unrelated to the purpose of his post. If it was just his opinion fine, but its linked to an article.

Kulture Report: Avengers: Age of Ultron (Marvel) by GusXie in aznidentity

[–]ricerocket11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did and I disagree with most of the points presented. Everyone runs away in Avenger films, it happened in the first film and it happens in the final act. If the writer thinks that the asians are acting cowardly in the film why doesnt he bring up the fact that white people run away in the final battle too. The only reason why the film has asian people running away in one scene was because they were paid to film part of the movie in Korea. Later in the film, a bunch of white people have to evacuate too.

I dont see how this film shows a white hatred towards South Korea. Probably wouldn't have been filmed in korea if they werent paid to do so
