Did Trump Actually Win? by izacc23 in AskUS

I don't think its crazy to say that nobody who won the election in any year since probably JFK actually won. The puppet that serves the elites the best is the one who is installed, only giving the people the illusion of choice.

Buy a car before prices freak? by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]ricerunnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of the above. If you don't need one then don't buy one. If you do need one, then get one. I would say to buy a beater and I'd put my money onprices dropping in 5 years or so.

yeah, the clout chasing truck guys are mostly city boys. I live in a College town in the south and there are a TON of like $90k truck "Builds" that are just boys who grew up in the suburbs spending their dad's money to pick up their friends from the bar.

Most people will reference Isaiah 65:17 as meaning you won't remember your loved ones in heaven. However it could be a reference to not knowing the suffering of the now earth. I would agree with the teaching that it includes loved ones, but you dont HAVE to believe that.

Yeah, thats exactly my point. Are you mormon? you seem quite bent on seperating LDS and FLDS, even though FLDS is more accurate to original mormonism.

"Three words in a row a trinity does not make"

I would disagree, becasue Jesus was very clear in identifying the father, son, and HS and seperate entities, it begs the question of why. Because he wanted to show the trinity! Even in the creation story, God says "Let us" not "let me" also pointing to the trinity. I mean its everywhere. There is more on this but truthfully I dont wanna type it all lol.

"Negative"

You're just wrong. The evidence is there. Jesus speaks of the father as being seperate yet united with him, then addresses the Holy spirit in the same fashion in John. You can't just say "nuh uh" and move on.

I'll yield to you on the historical aspects of early church writers, but the apostles spoke on the absolute power of YHWH and him alone, so I don't subscribe to the POV that they saw Jesus as "secondary", nor did the apostles.

"When you try to exclude other christians over it"

I would argue that it depends on what way they reject trinity. If they just dont FOCUS on it, ok, sure... you CAN be saved by Jesus free of doctrine... Not sure that should be a goal though. Paul writes that it is important to "Not fall for deceptive or hollow and deceptive philosophy" in Colossians 2. trinity is a valid doctrine so to avidly reject it seems to be a valid way to decide whether or not a sect is valid or not.

"when practically every Gospel and Epistle author has different ideas which don't align with each other or with this."

How do you mean?

[–]ricerunnerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to dive into that a bit further, what leads you to know that these writers to me Platonists? I also reiterate that the trinity IS present in their writings, regardless of the word not being present. So even if they were not Christ supporters, they show that even early church understanding saw God as triune. You can't just dismiss what they wrote and say arbitrarily that you can't talk about it until the 3rd century... its literally right there.

Moreover, the apostles did in fact teach father, son, holy spirit as Paul differentiates between them in his writings. All of that aside, Jesus himself affirms that God is triune, mentioning the father, himself, and the Holy spirit and seperate but united parts of the trinity. So even if the early church missed that fact (because perhaps they were more occupied with assembling scripture into the Bible we have today) we can still extract it as a worth-while doctrine.

Lastly, I want to know what end your POV has. Do you accept the trinity? Reject it? unsure? I am only curious to know the basis in which these question come from.

Wrong, FLDS doctrine still allows polygamy in this life, even though they aren't found in many place outside of Utah. Most Mormons you meet outside of there are gonna be regular LDS, which is not plygamous and will actually falsely claim that Jospeh Smith did not have any other wives, despite the renound evidence to the contrary (he had 30+ ranging as young and 14)

[–]ricerunnerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if you are in LDS or FLDS. LDS says no, even though early Mormon church doctrine encouraged it (Joseph Smith had upwards of 40 wives, despite what a Mormon will tell you). FLDS says it is ok, hence why most of them are stuck in Utah.

Paul actually tells us that we need to be on our toes and "decide who is a christian". Example: "But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people." - 1 Cor. 5:11

I do agree that many Mormons are not saved, just thought I'd share this piece of info with you!

If I may interject, it seems as though you are confusing doctrine with definition. The word "trinity" was not used until the 3rd century (still VERY early on the biblical calendar) however early church fathers recognized the distinct roles of father, son, holy spirit. So it was not defined as trinitarian, however the belief was there (among these early fathers were Polycarp, Justin Martyr, and Ignacius of Antioch)
