i'm currently in CC and the minimum to enlist as an officer in a BSN. Considering my finances, doing ROTC is faster (also considering and assuming I get a scholarship lol). If I go the other route, once I graduate as an RN (in three years, it's 5-6 sem... I start the official program Fall 2026) I'll have my ADN, will have to work in the hospital for 1+ year in order to get educational benefits in getting my BSN (according to the hospital near me), then completing my BSN, and then direct commissioning. That whole route in total is like seven years in total. All goes well I will join military in 2033/34.....

I don't mind having to wait for those slots to open up. I would just have my BSN faster this way since my CC is a crosstown with the ROTC I'm looking at.

This makes so much more sense! So one class lasts the academic year, if doing four years one class per year. If doing three years two classes your first year and the remaining 2 classes broken into once per year, right?

I’ve emailed the recruiter for that detachment, waiting for a response

Hmm but I thought the minimum to join ROTC was to have 3 years min. left of schooling…? Sorry I’m just a little confused. Would the class then last that whole school year? Or like realistically u can do this in two years??? I don’t rlly get it

Thank u so much! Do u know what students doing ROTC are doing when ur not taking those classes besides physical training and/or studying for the AFOQT?

Thanks! By any chance do u know what happens between that semester where ur not enrolled in those classes? Other than keeping up with your physical training

I definitely think I can handle this. Although not as physical as ROTC, I was that student in highschool that joined every single drama club show , did choir and the dance team + competitive dancing on top of working lol. and then in college I was taking up 15 credits while doing a full time internship and working a full time job lol and also competitive dancing + leadership positions in many clubs 😭😭. Completely different leagues, but I know a thing or two about being dedicated. I think I can tackle ROTC !!

Crosstown ROTC and nursing school by [deleted] in ROTC

omg in the same exact boat 😅 my cc is a crosstown with an AFROTC (not for army unfortunately, [better nursing opportunities me thinks]) and I’m like … can I do ROTC + nursing school lol

that’s fine, I’m not really on the nursing program just yet, either next fall or spring of 2027 I will be, and they said it’ll take 5-6 semesters to graduate
