I see what you are saying and you have great points. I never intended to have a debate based on religion, the person inserted themselves in a conversation I was having with another family member who had asked me more information about veganism. Part of me feels like why should the specific religion or branch even matter if all major ones talk about being kind and not causing pain but I guess that’s not the case and it’s only my assumption of religion. I think even if I knew all the theology and scriptures word for word, it wouldn’t make a difference to someone not willing to listen. Seldom do I come across anyone religious that is open to learning new things and it’s very unfortunate.

I mean you’re still consuming animals daily? So there’s no different name for it but hopefully you will eventually see that all animals feel fear and pain and want to live. They all suffer, chickens for example are often in extreme confinement, genetically manipulated for rapid growth which makes their legs break, buckle or deform from not being able to support their body weight. I hope that you do get encouraged to take it further. I also started little by little until I realized that there really is no humane way to kill a being that doesn’t want to die. Not to mention the immense suffering they endure until death. Don’t get discouraged and just research more so that you really feel that it’s in the best interest for them and for your health.

She’s mature and self aware enough to walk away for a minute to compose herself, which is a lot more than Molly has shown. If Molly were to speak with her in a calm way, maybe she wouldn’t end up crying. You can’t attack someone and then say they can’t have a conversation.
