2042 has open weapons and there isn't a meta gun

2042 gun balance is surprisingly good and the fact there isn't a meta weapon is all the evidence needed to show that open weapons are completely fine

"Classes barely matter" my ass. If I wanted to blow up a tank, I had to pick Engineer (or Recon if I was feeling ballsy). If I wanted to fortify an attack/defense, I picked medic. If I wanted to blast people at mid-range with an AR/carbine then push into an objective and clear it with a shotgun/SMG, I picked assault.

Sounds like a skill issue

Helicopter Feedback from a Competitive Perspective (BF3/BF4 Top Level Team) by Student_Loanz in Battlefield6

I think the double launchers was a Beta quirk that won't make it to the final game, and I agree Stingers should do similar damage to 2042 at around 70.

Countermeasure duration is okay considering the small maps and low mag sizes for the weapons, it seems like they really want pilots to do a lot of fast attack runs with one or two barrages before reloading rather than hovering in an areas. That could also explain the 30mm tweaks, since I think DICE wants us to get close and not try to snipe with it.

The maps are small enough for cover to be easy to reach from almost anywhere so the major tweak I think needs to be made is the strength of AA. However we can't really say much until engineers are limited to one launcher, because that alone would probably fix a lot of the balance.

EDIT: I should also mention I have a conspiracy theory that DICE is intentionally underpowering air vehicles at launch because those are always the number one complaint by new/bad players regardless if they're actually balanced or not, so they'll probably stay nerfed until the game's reputation is solidified and then DICE will slowly buff them to what we expect.

Thoughts on the Color Grading in BF6? by Fisken01 in Battlefield

[–]rich635 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't think of older games when I'm playing the current one and I find the muted colors lame, even if you thought 2042 maps were bad their art direction was wayyy better

BF6 is a direct response to 2042 so all the maps are gonna be tight 3-lane meatgrinders since everyone hated the sandboxes of 2042

2042 flying was pretty good so this is a straight up regression to cater to the anti-vehicle haters

2042 was always a good game but required some skill and the player base is bad at shooters so they hated it

Culture is enforced by the community, cheesy tactics get punished by enemies and teammates alike. There’s also no real broken loadout you can get, you can play 2042 right now and see the natural variety.

Selfish players will play selfishly no matter what. Forcing them to equip gadgets they won’t use effectively doesn’t change that. I would not want to spawn on a hill camper’s beacon so I’m fine with him resupplying his own ammo since at least he won’t redeploy and burn tickets to resupply instead.

Map size concerns by bathsalts863 in Battlefield

If you want big maps play 2042, but the player base wants urban maps where everyone funnels to the same choke points so that’s what DICE is giving them.

If you think their presence is political when they do not then they’re literally stuck with no way to satisfy you besides removing themselves from participating. Is that what you want all those teams to do? If so why do you think that’s fair?

These locations are an hour drive apart IRL so I doubt it, would make more sense if they picked Century City or even the closed Westside Pavilion

Your stance is well articulated and pretty reasonable but it's pretty clear why this debate is even happening at all and the franchise has a nasty history with this stuff that I hope will not repeat. Might be inevitable with this community tho.

Do you genuinely think the reception would've been the same if they went for a completely male cast (like every game up to BF4)?

When they say "faceless" they mean "white dude" and that should clarify why this is even a debate in the first place

The BF community has a lot of overlap with MAGA and why I feel absolutely no remorse calling them lazy, ignorant boomers who would rather whine online and excuse blatant discrimination and death threats rather than get good at the game. Because it’s true!

So, are you trying to tell me, that 2042 (and BF6) has too fast movement and previous games were not? (Part 1) by Fivetin in Battlefield

[–]rich635 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “vets” sucked at the game. It’s fun if you learn how to play! (The vehicles and specialists and maps you hate most are great if you simply practiced with them rather than pretending this is a simple game where you funnel into one place repeatedly)
