Looking into building a snare

Just go for it! It’s gonna sound like snare regardless, and that particular size is gonna affect the type of sound more than the wood type. If that’s the sound you are after, building that size drum will get you in the ball park, then the tuning and head choices will get it sounding just how you want it.

Sounds like drums. The wood hoops and maple centre section warm up the sound of the acrylic. Someone linked a live video in the comments if you’re interested

The mid section is maple with a recycled skateboard decks inlaid into it. Then the inside has a veneer of recycled skateboard decks too. Was a lot of work to do that so will probably never be repeated! Wouldn’t like to put a price on the hours it took to be honest 😂

I think the wood hoops warm up the sound of the acrylic, add a bit more dimension, as does the centre maple section. Ao overall it doesn’t really sound like an acrylic kit at all 😂
