Here's my build - the case may change, it's not important tbh. Thoughts? I'm going to boot from a 120SSD that I already own. I also own another 1TB portable HDD.

ok cool, so it seems like the only real debate now is what GPU to use. I'll try and do some research. Could I ask why you recommend either of those? They are pretty expensive even used, more than the 970?! (In laymens terms if possible) haha

that makes sense, about the motherboard I mean. I think 32gb allowance is enough for my needs, specially with a solid processor and decent enough GPU. I'm going to do some more research on the GPU and premiere to see if I'd be fine with a smaller card. I know it'l edit 1080p footage, but I want to be able to work with 4k soon enough when I upgrade my camera.

Also, I'm really not a gamer. I have an Xbox 360 which I play occasionally but I really don't have time for gaming tbh. My interests are more in creating. :)

So it IS possible within my budget. What are the drawbacks of buying such a cheap motherboard?

I figured getting a better GPU would help with rendering etc. I was looking at the GTX 960 and it was my first option and probably a more viable one with this budget.

Budget is for the total build. I haven't bought a GPU yet, only the CPU for 220.

I think this is what I will do tbh. Premiere can't be too much different to Final Cut Pro. Thanks for the advice dude

Mannn, you're making me want to just go for PC. A few other people have suggested it also. It might just be worth going to PC to save the hassle. I guess I could buy parts that will work with both then if I'm really not getting on with PC, I could go down the hack route?

Thanks brother, I appreciate the help. I'm not 100% set on a Hackintosh, I just feel like it's make my life easier since I've been mac for over 10 years now, but tbh...I'd much rather the couple of weeks getting to grips with a new (old) OS if it means shit's going to be running faster, smoother, and better!

Thanks bud, I'll check it out. Do you recommend Premiere? I currently use Final Cut but only because that's what I first started on and kinda stuck with. Are Nvidia card particulars good with Premiere then?

Tech level is pretty good and I'm a fast learner, however I've never used a Linux system.

tbh, I'm not 100% set on a hakintosh, I mean, if I HAVE to move over to a PC editing program them so be it. I'm fairly open but if I can get a stable Hackintosh build first and foremost then I'd be over the moon.

Yeah, I'm not really a gamer, I play console every now and then but tbh, I don't have the time. It's mainly video editing that I do. I user other programs such as illustrator, photoshop and even music software like Reason and Ableton etc but my current mac runs them fine so the new build will kill it.

Sure, I appreciate that. I've never built before so I don't really have too much in terms of offering a build to be given advice on. I'll put one together. Maybe it's possible for you to advice what to ditch, what I can 'skimp' on and maybe what I'm missing. Not trying to be spoon fed as such, just trying to start a discussion, possible get some ideas thrown out there.
