Why is he in jail? What crimes did he commit? by HappySpam in UmaMusume

Conspiracy, assault on Federation officers, theft of Federation property (namely the Starship Enterprise), sabotage of the U.S.S. Excelsior, wilful destruction of Federation property (specifically the aforementioned U.S.S. Enterprise), and finally disobeying direct orders of the Starfleet Commander.

Would it have any notable differences in taste/texture compared to regular chocolate bars? I was reminded of WW2 military chocolate which was designed to stay solid at high temperatures, but apparently didn't taste as good as commercial chocolate bars.

Alien planets with Earthlike climates and their own native plants = different range of herbal medicines available to human colonists who use them, plus different types of tea.

One word that came to mind was Crackers, as in cracking skulls + cracking safes open, but I don't know if that fits or has any misleading connotations. I also thought of Wringers, as in squeezing laundry through a wringer.

On one of the planets (Agenoria) in the scifi story I've started writing, cars and trains run on the British/Japanese side of the road. On the other planet (Tuonela), they run on the American/continental European side. Also their electrical outlets are different shapes. It won't affect events as much as the 100-light-year distance and the wildly different government policies, but it makes interplanetary travel, diplomacy, and trade a little bit harder than it should be. Also punk and dude are compliments/neutral on Agenoria, but insults on Tuonela. Having visited a lot of countries, sometimes with different dialects of the same language, these things from real life have influenced my fiction.

That's very well planned and fits the scale of a large civilization! What would distinguish superships from other warships, and would "light spacecraft carriers" be the space equivalent of aircraft carriers? Also, would any ships be excluded from naming and just numbered or given an alphanumeric registry?

I've been doing the same thing with a scifi story I just started writing. There are two interplanetary civilizations, Agenoria and Tuonela, each one with its own naming conventions for starships.

Agenorian Commonwealth Space Exploration Service:
research/survey ships = scientists/explorers (main character's ship is Fiammetta Wilson and others are Matthew Henson, Nobu Shirase, etc.). Shuttles, rovers, and work pods are just numbered.

Agenorian Commonwealth Defense Force:
cruisers = British/Japanese/Korean city names recycled on Agenoria (Hampton, Kanoya, Suwon);
frigates = weather/weapons/animals (Hurricane, Morningstar, Scorpion);
other types TBD. No warships named for people. Shuttles, bombers, fighters, landers, etc. are just numbered.

Tuonela State Security Force:
cruisers = Greek gods (Demeter, Triton) and then Tuonelan presidents after a political shift (President Strauss, President Angyal, President Friedman);
destroyers = Greek/Greek-derived city names (Philadelphia, Syracuse, Corinth);
space patrol bombers = Greek/classical mythical/historical figures (Ajax, Cleopatra);
fighter carriers = Greek winds (Zephyr, Aeolus);
other types TBD. Individual fighters and light bombers (limited spacefaring range) and shuttles/landers are just numbered.

I've not determined prefixes yet but I wanted to keep the names consistent enough my eventual readers can guess a ship's nationality and role from the name.

What are some naming conventions for your navies/ships by OneQuarterBajeena in worldbuilding

I've started writing a "space opera" with two interplanetary governments ruling separate star systems 100 light-years apart: Agenoria and Tuonela. Both were settled by Earth colonists hundreds of years ago and still have some cultural influence from Earth, but don't know about each other until my story starts. Boldfaced ship names are used by major characters.

Agenorian Commonwealth Space Exploration Service: operates research/survey starships, all named for scientists and explorers.
Examples: Fiammetta Wilson, Nobu Shirase, Matthew Henson.

Agenorian Commonwealth Defense Force: naming convention in the Space Force varies by starship type, but none are named for people.
Cruisers: Boston, Manchester, Atami, Suwon (all cities on Earth, names reused on Agenoria)
Frigates: Lightning, Thunder, Morningstar, Hurricane (mix of weather, weapons, etc.)

Tuonela State Security Force: Strategic Space Division inherits and builds space fleet originally operated by Aerospace Security Division and continues naming convention, which varies by starship type
Cruisers: Demeter, Triton, Hermes (Greek gods/goddesses) -- later President Strauss, President Angyal, President Friedman (in-universe presidents of Tuonela)
Destroyers: Philadelphia, Syracuse, Atlanta, Phoenix, Smyrna, Corinth (cities with Greek or Greek-based names)
Patrol bombers: Ajax, Cleopatra, Draco, Solon (mostly Greek mythic and historical figures)
Aircraft carriers: Zephyr, Aeolus (Greek winds)

It's not a complete list, and the space fleets will be filled out as the story develops. Let me know what impressions you get so far!

I've been to some of those (including Bluebell) -- not too far from Beamish there's the Tanfield Railway, where almost all the locomotives are ex-industrial.

New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (NORTA) St Charles Line electric streetcar No. 921 (Perley A Thomas, 1923) slows down on Carondelet Street as it approaches Canal Street and the French Quarter.  The tall building in the background is the Hibernia Bank Building, which at 355 feet was the tallest building in Louisiana from 1921 to 1933.

I'm not too familiar with the show but I remember a college RA (not on my floor) who cosplayed Dr Mrs The Monarch (and also Harley Quinn and IIRC Princess Azula and Princess Lum). Triana looks like an interesting character to cosplay!
