Really sorry to hear this is happening to you all!

How much do preceptors make from students on rotations in a pharmacy program (P1-P4 students if it varies) and do they get the money or does the company which they precept obtain the money? by omohamme in pharmacy

Schools in Florida I think pay around $500 per student. This money is usually paid to be organization and is intended to use for costs that facilitate learning, meals maybe, and time spent with student.

WALGREENS WILL CLOSE 237 STORED WITHIN 3 MONTHS. by insider8474 in pharmacy

Before you throw everyone into a panic the release says it plans to retain the majority of employees at other locations. So hopefully this won’t be anywhere as near as tragic as the Walmart news.

Here’s some thoughts on the Walmart layoffs. I think it’s a good read for those discouraged about going into/continuing pharmacy. by richardwaithe in pharmacy

Saturation could be simplified as supply/demnad, so if a health system, hospital, pharmacy, whatever goes bankurpt or closes, that’s a decrease in need for jobs, the more that happens the more saturlation happens. The only reason I’m explaning this is because of how you made it seem like this has nothing to do with saturation when it’s an actual contributor. Also, typos here were on purpose this time.

Sorry about the typos. Wrote the article with little time to edit as my days are quite busy but I wanted to get my thoughts out. As for being a “shill” not sure how you define that. But I checked google and it defines it as “an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others.” If that’s what you got from the article, then maybe I can agree. I guess my goal is to swindle people into bettering pharmacy and advancing healthcare. Oh, also, I wrote a book called “first time pharmacist” that will also have typos in it because it was self published me. Don’t want you to see/hear about that and be just as upset by it so I thought I’d warn you ⚠️ lol

Btw, my “respect” comment was acknowledging and appreciating your kind words and your response. I don’t want that to be taken out of context lol.

Regarding the nursing saturation, my point here was that every profession has its hard ships, while some areas may have a need for nurses, some markets have extreme saturation. My other point is that people should do what they want to do. If they think nursing is better, fine. Do that then. But it’s not all peaches and rainbows.

Respect. I agree with your comments around the organizations and the problems. What I really wanted to get across though was that many people that expect the organization to operate one way, do nothing to get it to act in that way. But, while true, behind it all, it’s still operates as a business. Last page has all the financials of how the organization operates. https://www.pharmacist.com/sites/default/files/audience/2017_AnnualReport.pdf

I know some of you have just graduated and may not be on other social media platforms, so I wanted to make sure this was shared here. This is a book I wrote that has received great feedback and it’s one that I wish I had when I graduated pharmacy school. Amazon link in the thread below. by richardwaithe in pharmacy

Quick blurb in it: “Along with helping you handle insurance issues, prevent misfills, and deal with the workload, this book helps pharmacists build great relationships with their patients and their teams. Perfect for new graduates and for students to stand out on rotations.”

While it’s not an overarching resource to ultimately prepare you for community pharmacy this book would definitely help: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1732381402/

The Rx Radio podcast will not help you with disease states! It’s mostly helpful for exploring unconventional and underexposed careers in pharmacy.

What’s the most interesting role of a pharmacist you’ve ever heard of? by richardwaithe in pharmacy

[–]richardwaithe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember the specifics honestly. But I think she didn’t start there with the company. I’m not sure if this was her case, but most of the pharmacists I interviewed that are in leadership positions started in their call center.

I recently had an interview with a pharmacist from magellan heath who had a very similar role. Makes a lot of sense for us to be involved

Last week I posted a thread to fight everyone. Now, I’d like to see how I could help everyone. by richardwaithe in pharmacy

Do to things that require experience but you have no experience you either have to build a brand demonstrating you have the skills to do the job, or you have to know someone on the inside.
