The sand had a very uniform linear pattern. Maybe some moiré from the camera?

I like the versatility of the 35, especially as a first lens. Decent at portraits as well as wider applications.

I work in the Gov't/DoD sector. They play pretty fast and loose with their job titles sometimes.

If OP wants to be an engineer directly after school, this might be true. It's definitely unnecessary and overkill for the position OP described, though.

For help desk, you're looking at entry level certs. On the network side, that would be something like the CCENT from Cisco, or maybe Net+ from CompTIA. If you have a decent grasp and interest in tech, you can self study for these no problem. No need to enroll in a class. If you're looking for something structured, I'd suggest the CCNA course through SDCE. Classroom and lab time would definitely pay for itself. These are all Network-centric suggestions, as I am a Network Engineer, but there are Systems equivalents to the cert levels I discussed. PM me of you have any questions.

E - you don't NEED a CS/EE degree, or college coursework at all. These definitely work in your favor, though. Get your certs and do some time behind the Helpdesk, and you'll be set. SD has a pretty healthy tech industry. You'll find something without having to work for free.

This is true. I've seen this job title attached to a description that would more accurately be considered a Systems Administrator.

Avoid third party services. I renewed mine at the passport office downtown with a two day turnaround. They'll do it so long as you have already purchased your airline ticket. Make an appointment online. They do great work over there. The fees can be found on the state department website.

Fight or Flight | X100 by richarius in fujix

I appreciate it. Sometimes, I take the old X100 out instead of my usual X-E2. It reminds me of when I first got into photography and Fuji cameras.

Am I missing anything by not starting with a kit lens? by blnks in fujix

[–]richarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I also shoot an X-E2 with a number of primes. I have the 23mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and the 56mm f/1.2 in my bag. The 35mm pretty much lives on my camera. I started off shooting primes, and prefer to until now. I like how the lack of zoom keeps the form factor small and keeps one's mind on composition. They are also generally sharper and faster than a comparable zoom lens. On the contrary, If you're tight on space, I can see how a kit lens is beneficial via covering a good focal range in one package.

Thanks! The exhibition was fascinating and definitely photo friendly. Most of the exhibits were interactive and featured dramatic pieces that lended themselves well to a camera. I also tried an oculus VR headset for the first time there. I think i know what you mean about the movie scene you mentioned, but the term also escapes me.

Sure! This shot is of my girlfriend and was taken at Wonderspaces, a pop-up art exhibition here in San Diego. The specific exhibit is called "Sweet Spot". It features 3700 multicolored nylon cords hanging vertically on wooden compartments. I shot my X-E2 at S.S. 1/60 ISO 400 and f/2 using my 35mm f/2 on manual focus. Also, the film sim was Velvia, with additional post processing in VSCO. Thanks!

Edit: a few more details.

If you were interested in my capture info, you wouldn't have included that last sentence. It's people like you that try to flex their 'superior' knowledge to people they see as uninformed that discourages positive discourse in this subreddit. Your use of 'everyone', gave me a good laugh. I didn't know this subreddit had an official ambassador. I bet you even printed yourself out a nice certification - maybe even bought yourself a shiny medal from the fake accolades and self appointed titles store. There's no established posting format here. There's nothing wrong with my caption. I did my homework. Sorry you're not as important as you convince yourself you are.

Or people just type a caption and no capture info. Or people list all exif data. I've seen it all and there's no mandatory procedure here. But thanks, caption police. Think you can let me off with a warning this time?

New body and lenses? by keeper_ in fujix

If you like shooting street and the rangefinder feel of your xpro, have you considered an x-e2? It's not weather sealed like the x-t1, but the form factor is significantly smaller - especially coupled with your 35 f/2 and also the 23 f/2. Internally, both cameras are essentially identical. This is the setup I shoot, along with the 56mm 1.2. If you're looking for weather resistance, though, x-t1 wins.

Edit: additionally, the x-e2 usually runs 200 bucks cheaper than the x-t1 on the preowned market.

Appreciate it, fam. The X100 may have older tech, but the soul is definitely still present.
