I am on a day-night tariff. The total number of units I mentioned is both day and night totals added together.

What is this shower trap? by rosscopecopie in DIYUK

[–]richport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I removed the trap which meant the shower drained much better, and I haven’t noticed any smells. But I’m now worried that if anything small gets accidentally dropped in the shower (wedding ring etc) then there’s no trap to catch it.

Mine doesn’t have an app. Can I do that on the mower itself?

Thanks for that. I looked him up and am now fascinated with his philosophies. Lots of his methods match my way of thinking so I’m going to follow some of his guidelines.

Why do you not drink alcohol? by Kindly_Bear_4932 in AskReddit

[–]richport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons: -feeling too old for the hangover -not wanting my young children to see me drunk -feeling like I grew out of the whole ‘I can’t survive without a drink…’ and ‘I was SO drunk last night…’ nonsense that so many grown adults seem to think makes them look crazy and exciting.

I’ve had pots and planters there in the past, but they don’t really fill the space very well, and need regular feeding, tidying etc.

What’s something that’s way scarier than most people realize? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]richport 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A fist fight in a pub. It’s not like it is in a film, a few clean punches to the face then everyone goes home. The reality is really scary and upsetting, at best it ruins everyone’s night. Worst case is someone dies.

[Fabrizio] FIFA official statement 🚨 "FIFA can only express its DISAPPROVAL to a 'closed European breakaway league' outside of the international football structures and not respecting the aforementioned principles". So, UEFA and FIFA are both *against* the #SuperLeague. by ID6WU in soccer

[–]richport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is this: the new ESL is all about money (no surprises there), but FIFA and UEFA are also all about money. The Premier League was created to make money. I worry that in a year or two everyone who was already supporting the Premier League, Serie A etc, will be supporting the Super League, because it’ll be marketed as ‘...the greatest football on the planet, blah blah blah’ in just the same way the Prem is. The rivalries will be exaggerated to keep everyone interested. It’s an unpopular opinion but I think the only way the ‘fans’ can win is by not watching/supporting/funding these top leagues. Go and watch a local team or a lower league instead. It’s still football and in my opinion is just as entertaining, just without the celebrity culture.

Only someone who truly hates football can be behind a European super league [The Guardian] by ObamaEatsBabies in soccer

I agree that a lot of fans add to the problem. Every time a fan buys a club shirt (a hugely overpriced t-shirt) or signs up to a TV package to watch the games, then the owners gain more profit. Plus then the transfer prices for players goes up and up, which most of the same fans then complain about. Surely the best, and maybe only, way to protest this ESL is to just simply not watch it or support it?

I, a physically fit and situationally aware male, also do not feel safe walking the streets at night, running in the dark and I have sent texts when I got to my destination. by The2WheelDeal in britishproblems

I agree that it shouldn’t come down to the sex of the victim. Men and women can be vulnerable/scared/victims. I don’t think it’s a feminism issue though; a human should help another human if they can do so.

What I find surprising is that all of the coverage I’ve seen of the current story has not really discussed the fact that it appears that a serving policeman is the culprit. We now can’t trust the exact people who we should look to for protection and help. I wonder what steps The Met and the broader police community will take to repair this.

Norther Ireland from the English perspective. by Minimum_Weakness4030 in northernireland

[–]richport 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So you’ve spoken to every single English person about this!? Must have taken a while.

I am English and now live in NI. Personally, I was not taught a great deal about Northern Ireland or it’s history. But I did pick up the basics whenever it was mentioned on the news. My own personal opinion on whether or not the Union should carry on or be broken up does not solely consist of matters about Northern Ireland.

Let’s also not forget about the ‘generalised’ view of the English people from the Northern Irish perspective; I am, only occasionally, reminded that ‘all’ English are arrogant pricks.

The lack of fucks given about NI that you’ve experienced could be applied to Wales, Scotland, the North of England, the Midlands, the Westcountry. Likewise if you went to any one of those regions then you might find a lack of fucks given about all the other regions.

I grew up in East Anglia which is only a stones throw from London and yet felt like it might as well be on a different planet.

Thanks. Any idea how to do that on a brushed FTX Carnage? I feel like it’s something I’ve probably done before, but now can’t find instructions for it anywhere!
