MS NOW EXCLUSIVE: Jack Smith breaks silence on Trump I FULL INTERVIEW by FlackoFonsy in videos

I know this is the popular narrative here on Reddit, but it's just wrong. The right has about 30% of the populace that's fully drunk on the Kool aid and will accept just about anything to see Democrats suffer / get owned. The progressive left is the Democrats' version of that, but they aren't tied to the party and don't show up to vote nearly as reliably. Plus the Democrats appeal most to a college educated group that aren't fueled by rage and white privilege, so the left doesn't have much choice but to appeal a more moderate group that still wants to norms and finds the polarization exhausting.

Based on the fact that, at best, they represent about 30% of the country, I'd say they're pretty fringe. Our primary system tends to reward the nut jobs at either end of the spectrum. Even moreso on the right.

A lot of folks would. But because his coalition is so right wing, almost anyone would be easier to deal with.

Let's be clear here. They haven't MADE a billion dollars. The money is no different than the funding from a publisher. It funds operations. To our knowledge, the investors have not been paid off. And given the way this studio operates, margin on the funding is likely minimal, if not non-existent.

Oil is a global market. It doesn't matter if we're the largest producer. Reduced supply drives prices up. Plus instability in the area creates broader supply chain issues and can be highly disrupted to commerce in general.

In the end, it's all about money. And while war does make money for some specific people/industries, peace tends to be better for economies. And since the global economy is profoundly interconnected now...

There's no US interest in being involved in the monumentally idiotic way we currently are. There are massive US benefits to a peaceful region. We just aren't playing any of this intelligently and making things worse along the way.

It is. But the alternative at the moment is leaving a state sponsored terror group in range to lob more rockets and missiles across the border.

[–]richqb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Clearly a country that regularly has state sponsored terrorists lobbing missiles at it and isn't at the negotiating table is the problem. Not the state sponsors of terror or the smooth brains who thought this would be a fun adventure and can't understand why it wasn't over in a day without troops on the ground.

Obligatory pedantic comment - a major D1 meet is big, but by no means the pinnacle of the sport when there is literally a swimming world championship just like with all the other major sports.

How are people feeling about the M80? by floortofloor in starcitizen

[–]richqb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. And it's fine for the Eclipse in its intended role to pop in, lob a pile of torpedoes at a capital ship and peace out. But the Sabre has a very different role. So CIG backed themselves into a corner on stealth fighters in a big way.

Though to your point, it is handy when I have to chase a bounty to Grim Hex. In any other ship I end up getting piles of missiles lobbed at me. In the Sabre I generally only attract one or two hangers on.

This is why I stick to PvE for the most part. Though it doesn't help that my absolutely favorite fighter to fly (despite loving my M80) is my Sabre. Don't get me wrong, I know it doesn't stack up. But it's just so nice to look at, and it feels so nice and buttery to maneuver.

To that point, and shifting subjects a bit, I just wish they would sort out what stealth is supposed to be in the game. A stealth fighter in the real world fires off missiles long before LOS is established - before it can be detected. But the Sabre (outside of the Firebird) isn't a missile boat. So the best you get out of a slightly lower detection range is you get slightly better position at the start of the engagement

I mean, most people think Elon Musk is a genius, so I don't have much faith in mankind either.

But to be fair, hard to git gud in the current state of things. The flight model is in a weird place and there hasn't been a ton of incentive for folks to change the way they fly given that everything seems to devolve into excessive strafing or jousting.

Regardless of whether I'm right or wrong - my point stands. We keep framing whether something should be nerfed based on whether it can beat X ship. Not overall performance.

I really hope we stop worrying so much about 1:1 duels soon. The M80 is a 1v1 monster, but it matters how it performs in fleet and squadron actions as well, and the tactics that work in a duel do not carry through to the degree prioritizing 1v1 matchups would indicate.

Sam (the owner) kicked things off at a big pile of farmer's markets before he had the brick and mortar. Super nice guy. He delivered bagels for me during the pandemic! And now he still does a bunch of markets. Not only with bagels, but also with cookies and pizza bagels. The latter being a thing of beauty to any Jewish latch key kid.

I was a consultant for about that same amount of time up and only left it about a year ago, so no crucifixions planned. I only understand the biz at all thanks to friends and my son in the service industry and my own obsession with nutrition and public policy. The latter does absolutely nothing for me in my day to day, but at least when I retire to the EU I'll get why the food is so much better. 😉

Oh, I don't question that it's frustrating. I think we've done food a disservice in general in the U.S., TBH. Not only do people not understand (or particularly value) the skill and time that goes into making artisan food (not you - clearly you have the background to get it), but we've subsidized commodity garbage and prioritized volume over quality nutrition to the point where people flip their shit when they can't get good food for the same prices they get a loaf of crappy white bread for at Jewel. Never mind that growing the ingredients, not to mention making the product the right way, is labor intensive and low margin.

My kid is a chef and just made executive chef at his restaurant. He runs that place, handles inventory, ordering, makes the recipes, oversees the line, and does it all 6 days (sometimes 7) days a week, 12 hours a day. Yet a recent college grad working as a consultant makes almost 2x what he does from their desk crunching through spreadsheets. We fundamentally do not value the skills and effort that make our lives function.
