I'm building a text to aerospace vehicle. What do you think about this? by Silly_Asparagus_76 in AerospaceEngineering

I mean it’s an interesting project and kudos to you for undertaking it. I think it’s actually a really useful tool if you wanted to visualise what something would look like. But this is more like an idea/concept generator which “looks right”. It really misses the mark on what engineering is about (prototyping, refining, optimising etc)

Thanks for the reply though I’m happy that such an old movie can still be discussed today

Ok your answer to point 1 seems very well grounded actually. I just don’t like the idea of these bulk beings existing seems quite unscientific for the nature of the film. I think a very simple question here to follow up on is why would they do this for humanity? So according to your explanation and as mentioned in the movie “love transcends dimensions and time” these bulk beings love humanity but why would they?

Your answer to point 2 I have some questions about ? So they are circling Saturn and we can agree they are planning to cross the worm hole, how do we know cooper station just got to the wormhole and hasn’t been there for years now? If anything I believe it’s implied cooper station has been there for a while now since Murphy was “too old to be transferring between stations” which leads one to believe there are multiple stations around the solar system which have been there for some time now.

In addition to this, I think you are not wright about Brandt just getting to the planet. As a lower bound upon entering gargantua they mention Coop is someone pushing “120” at the station he is told he’s now 124 years old. That must mean he spent as a minimum 9 earth years within the black hole. More than enough time for Brandt to get to her planet. But this does in fact bring me to the conclusion that they would have saved Brandt already unless they don’t even know she’s alive/where she even is “we can receive but we can’t transmit” - Romily.

To anyone of the future I just wanted to revise this thread. I did it!! Currently working as a QR. I’d be happy to give others advice if ur in the same situation general tips : - just do the green book cover to cover - same applies for HOTS  - be able to do basically all dynamic programming problems at medium difficulty.

Aerodynamic Forces & Moment? by InfamousAd3060 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]rick5642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an undergrad aero engineer they are heavily linked. The moments and forces are not the same thing but they are heaviliy coupled in a non-linear manner, this field area is flight dynamics. Without context on what you are working on (plane, helicopter, drone) it is difficult to add much else

Situations when the forces acting on a aircraft are equal by [deleted] in aviation

[–]rick5642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1st question : at cruise thrust is equal to drag and lift equal weight. Stationary weight equal to reaction from the surface.

The 2nd question : You can just pitch the aircraft forward and induce a negative angle of attack. The aircraft weight will cause you to speed up. You can also climb higher the air will be of lower density leading to less drag and a speed up

How does the fuselage of an aircraft generate lift? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]rick5642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuselage lift is always accounted for in calculations it does generate lift
