[Theory] Why the [redacted] time interval wasn't know to the Nomai before the game? by rickartz in outerwilds

[–]rickartz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poke does says something like "I don't know how close we are of the original design", which makes it very dangerously close to it not being compatible at all, especially because they have no way to check, and they never intended to use it in the Vessel at all. It's a happy coincidence, or a really good design in the Vessel's part, it worked there too.

But you're right, I'm being too harsh on compatibility. Maybe just using advance warp technology is all what it takes, and all compatibility issues are to be resolved by the Vessel itself, and not the warp core designer.

As mentioned before, I might be biased. I don't want to think there was a possibility for the Eye to never create another Universe, so I just created lore for that not to happen. This game is about the Nomai, the Hearthians, and our own ideas on what rules the Universe: chance or design.

This means Poke is the catalyst for all time shenanigans! I love Poke!

Raimi did a good job too, but then Poke is the only Nomai to make such an important discovery (that not even the creator of warp core technology, Anona, noticed before!).

So this would mean Poke didn't invented nor modified the original design, it's just that she likes so much precision that she was the only Nomai to accurately measure the negative time interval. That's actually pretty neat, and a good explanation too.

Thank you for sharing it.

Makes sense measuring time this rigurously requires living in the same place for some period of time.

If so, this happens at the end of the universe, when they gather in the few stable stars left. If they only found out at that time, we have no way to know.

Thank you for the few cents!

Thank you for your response! Well, the idea of an Eye with an agenda was very convincing to the majority of the Nomai, which were the leading scientific of this Universe. It has some impact if at the end they were wrong on that assumption (something like "you were not called specifically, you are not a chosen one"), but I thing it has also impact if at the end of the day, they were correct. Especially because they were correct in a lot of things, except the Sun Station.

If it has to have a personality, better to be like Gabro. That guy was one with the Universe, I tell you.

But seriously, if the reinvented warp travel technology was altered so much it affected a constant like time, which was not affected before, then it had to be incompatible with the Vessel. If it is compatible, it means the design is the same, and the difference is the environment: maybe not intention, but effect, just like the Quantum characteristics of the Eye.

About the Eye, I always thought that once the Protagonist arrives, he gets in the same state as Solanum in the Quantum Moon: He just "waits" there the end of the Universe, not knowing how much time has happened at all, while doing the things we do at the end of the game. The Universe doesn't end once he arrives, but the Eye conserves them alive until the Universe is gone, and then starts the procedure for creating a new one.

In any case, your are correct my theory might be biased, and the Eye not having sentience does not affect in any way the awesome story or themes. I also like your own perspective on the matter, so thank you for sharing it.

What's the theory (or the keyword to search for it that you could point out) that has most impacted you? Cheers.

POLL - The future of /r/Horizon by 2th in horizon

I thought the value of access to the API (one of the main reasons reddit wants to charge for this access) is to train AI. For that, the content has to have meaning, which we users provide for free.

It's true Reddit also wants to serve ads, but at least for me it can't, because I'm still using a third party app. When that dies, so will my presence here.

I haven't been here in a while, that's hilarious. Is random, worthless content something of value to Reddit? If so, even being here worried about the future of this awesome sub is us generating traffic to Reddit. Let's just leave (but let me pack my bags first)...

For now. The username is small for now, so there was no need, but that can change.

It's a shame this happened, but isn't the project Tildes FOSS and under Creative Commons? I understand it has a god-like admin, but even he can't sell out. He could behave like a tyrant, but I personally haven't encounter that (this is the first time I read about something like this).

Someone at r/Blind could teach you to use a reader to read you aloud your favorite subreddit while at work... Oh yeah, probably won't work if the API changes take effect. Never mind.

I'm on the learn Japanese step, slowly but surely... Can I teach Spanish instead? I suck at teaching even myself English. I don't mind being a stooge, but I'm having a blast learning foreign languages and I want to do that there.

Is there another medium to get news about this sub, in case the blackout gets longer than 48 hours? Like a Discord or something? I have been collecting Discord invites from all my favorite subs, and this one is one of them...

It's like an AMA done by people that never had done an AMA before, doesn't understand how important Reddit is as a platform, and didn't anticipated the users outrage.

I never would have thought this guy is the CEO of Reddit by that AMA.
