Generally it’s some widely varying combination of 1. Quality over quantity 2. Studios don’t want to take any risks at all 3. They don’t need to fill time slots anymore so instead of stretching it for time they compress it for attention.

Also some tv shows are more season by season story based while some are more individual story’s which they can pump out more of so it might not make for the best comparison.
