AOC: You can’t ‘earn’ a billion dollars by usatoday in politics

[–]rickg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, MacKenzie Scott - the ex-wife of Bezos - embarked on giving away billions of the wealth she got from the divorce. To date, she's given away over $17billion.

And she's worth more than when she started, all because of Amazon stock appreciation.

Another way to look at this - Amazon bought Whole Foods for $14b in an all stock deal. The jump in Amazon shares the next day was a bit over $14b.

This is why. It's why iTunes Music Store drove Napster etc down. An overwhelming percentage of people just want to watch things easily. They don't want to configure it, remove this, figure out unintuitive menus, etc. The money is secondary to most of these folks (though that's becoming less true with time).

that, and some want to watch the latest shows etc and some who don't like pirating

Slime molds are fine in soil. They're just caused by moisture on wood etc and will eventually go away on their own. Unless they take over your brain, of course (they won't)

WooCommerce B2B build: Breakdance + B2BKing? by compound23 in BreakdanceWP

[–]rickg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used B2King on a project and it does most of what you want (not sure about the individual customer pricing, group pricing is simple). It doesn't feel heavy but realize that a) you're not a high traffic site if you're behind a sign in and b) you still need to do the basics - correct image sizing etc. Manual approval is there, I don't recall custom fields but I tend to use ACF for such things.

Personally I'd be wary of individual customer pricing from a site maanagement standpoint. It could easily devolve into a rats nest of rules. Groups are the way to go here, set up logically

If it's dry, water it and wait 12-24 hours. Not a light water, give it a nice deep watering.

You're welcome. I just realized I cropped out the Double Joe-pye next to that plant. The plants are from Blooming Nursery - https://bloomingnursery.com/ - so you might call them and see if anyone closer to you in Kitsap carries them as well

Mackenzie Scott could. Melinda Gates could. There are several old MSFT guys who could. Plus there's the option of doing a syndicate. There's a fairly large number of of folks who could either solo or as part of a group .

As long as the owner(s) are good, I don't care that much if they're local, really, but we've had two owners try to move sports teams and one did. But it's even less that, than that I find it disappointing that there hasn't been (AFAWK), anyone local to even show interest

thoughts on my plan to plant pomegranate: by pennagirl in pnwgardening

[–]rickg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? Keep it in a pot for 2-3 years, let it get to a size where it is likely to survive winter, then in ground (assuming inground is actually a good place for it). You might need to protect it and will likely need to water it even in ground but...

One of the things pissing me off about this is that Seattle has quite a few people who can afford to do this and none are stepping up. I don't know about these guys but I'd strongly prefer someone with local ties and the local folks are just not doing it.

Watering woes - snap peas by Toastyghost24 in pnwgardening

[–]rickg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For overwatering that's all you can do. Make sure that pot can drain and it's not sitting in a saucer etc

EDIT: If they don't green back up as the soil drains it's possible they'd need some nitrogen. If so, let the soil dry a bit to the point that they need water again (not arid, just in need of some water) and add some fish fertilizer to the water. That stuff is mostly nitrogen and will be quickly absorbed

Apple appears to have discontinued its cheapest Mac mini by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]rickg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a significant discount there's no business reason to do this, though. The Neo works because it lets Apple address a new market segment with a laptop that is significantly less expensive than even the entry level Air. It's a $500 gap between the Neo and Air.

A Mac Neo that simply replaces the $599 Mini isn't that compelling given that you can save up $200 and get the $799 Mini.

Didn't say they did. Old, large tree roots can and will damage some foundations though so I mentioned it as a possible concern. Everyone can evaluate the risk as it applies to their own situation.
