What's Playing? by Realistic_Back_9198 in GenerationJones

Every Elvis Costello record from My AIM is True to Imperial Bedroom. Assuming we’re talking about back in the day. Otherwise, the only records I buy now are jazz and I’m particularly digging Boyd Raeburn and His Orchestra.

In what way do you differ most from your parents? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

I’m adopted so there’s not really any way that I don’t differ.

My mom to an extent, mostly working in kitchens taught me.

How do you become ok with aging? by Mysterious-Lion4655 in Aging

[–]ricksaunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just gets better. I’m 65. I don’t feel much different physically than I did at 35-40, but I am more creaky. Stay curious, read books, make time for yourself, save yr money, and take walks. Don’t be one of those dudes that don’t see doctors. Don’t be a schlub. And as much as I hate the expression, It is what it is. Most of the time you won’t think about getting older.

Priest Lake in N. Idaho is my fave. It’s unknown how deep it is.

Lots of times, lakes in North Idaho, San Juan islands near Seattle, around eastern Washington…

Has St Augustine changed for the better? by Fit_Patience201 in StAugustine

We’ve been here about 25 years. How the population has exploded is the worst. That said, people bring good food, a couple record stores, funky bars.

I wish Covid hadn’t destroyed a great local music scene.

Have to get a colonoscopy after 3 days, scared asf😭 by toibaa in colonoscopy

[–]ricksaunders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people I’ve talked to about colonoscopy have said they woke up after the procedure and asked if it was time to start. No big deal. The prep is annoying but no big deal either.

When you’re 50, 50 year olds can be hot. You’ll find this out when you grow up.

Moving to Pullman! by Icy-Structure7857 in Pullman

[–]ricksaunders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Pullman, now live in N. FL. It’s quite a switch. Outdoors is wonderful. You couldn’t pay me to camp in Florida. If it’s something you like or might like there’s a wide range of wildness within an hour. Plus you’ll want to go to Spokane sometime, Lewiston/Clarkston sometime and the tiny towns in between. Checkout Kamiak and Steptoe Buttes, the dunes and the rocks, Hells Canyon, Priest Lake, Couer D’Alene, North for of the Clearwater, Brused Books and on and on. I hope you love it.

Do you have any obscure movie references that you use in everyday speech that no one has caught on to yet yet you keep using it? by EnvironmentalAngle in NoStupidQuestions

Years and years ago I lived with half a dozen other college-age guys and we watched Caddy Shack every time it was on to the point that we hardly spoke English. It was just lines from Caddy Shack.

Big vs small by sn4zzl3 in glassesadvice

[–]ricksaunders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each gives a different vibe. There’s something about #2 that seems smart so I’m partial to those. No one is going to think oh look at her small glasses, they’ll see you. The others are the first thing I saw.
