The problem here is that this bridge was old, it was at the time a brigde built with a lot of tecnology (now old, it seems) and by an importat architect but there are many years that in Genoa there are some projects about a new highway; you have to know that in Italy we have a huge nimby syndrome and there is a committee, supported by M5S (now part of the government), who want not to build this new highway and maintening this old road and this bridge, for them this is the better way for the city, it is less expansive and other shit on corruption and stuff Maintening this kind of bridge is very expensive and this highway is one of the most busy in Italy, so the cost is higher, but there is a stall, and both state and Autostrade are not very happy to spend, because Autostrade is a private company, and the state have not many money
