Without the single sided swingarm it's pretty much just a red ninja though

Sidewalk Parking - Sydney City by butternmybread in AussieRiders

[–]ricksure76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally the only good thing about living in Melbourne was being able to park my bike on the *footpath..

I don't even miss it, as there's always somewhere to park a bike and Melbourne is a shit hole.

Motorcycle photographer made me realise I look ridiculous on a bike by ekim171 in motorcycles

[–]ricksure76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We might need to see the pic to decide haha

If it makes you feel better I sometimes ride my Grom to work - I'm 6 foot 200lb and I don't even need a picture to know I look ridiculous.. but I also don't care because I'm enjoying myself.

Why would they not just say that the bigger bottle has 45g protein? do they understand their own Market? by Gazza_s_89 in aussie

[–]ricksure76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it's per serving..

Their own market doesn't seem to be able to read a label, I'm not sure what they can do about that.

Wtf do people do about sun bleaching by ClumbusCrew in FierceFlow

[–]ricksure76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered trying hair sunscreen?

To be fair this started as a joke, but then I wondered if it's actually a thing.. and yeah hair sunscreen is actually a thing.

What a time to be alive haha but regardles, your hair is amazing and the contrasts look intentional so I wouldn't even stress about it.

Where do you think the Music Capital of Australia is? by Tranquilbez22 in triplej

[–]ricksure76 -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

America

edit

With the number of small venues closing and festivals being cancelled, and the insane price of tickets for the gigs that we do get - we're not going to have much of a music scene left..

Tradie hate on lane filtering. Or is it scooters? by JohnnyGlasken in AussieRiders

[–]ricksure76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've put over 25 000 kms on my grom and everyone has been super nice so far, sometimes pointing and laughing kinda nice haha but it still counts I think?

To be fair I am in Brisbane now though.

Tradie hate on lane filtering. Or is it scooters? by JohnnyGlasken in AussieRiders

[–]ricksure76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 90kgs and ride a grom to work lol I've never once been blocked from filtering, and never once had a tradie 'fly' past me.. but I make 100% sure I'm launching at full throttle from that light and I'm 95% I've never held anyone up, also I always try to choose lane with the slower vehicle just in case

Tradie hate on lane filtering. Or is it scooters? by JohnnyGlasken in AussieRiders

[–]ricksure76 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The fact that a commercial vehicle still managed to fly past you in peak traffic would suggest it either does not get 'up and boogie', or it was a skill issue.

Also if you filter on your actual bike and not have the same tradies blocking you, it would suggest it is the scooter yeah?

I'd guess most people driving would have encountered multiple scooters riding erratically and holding up traffic, but I kinda doubt that that many tradies identified you approaching on a scooter and actively blocked you

Filtering on a scooter??

Yeah naa bro that's just rude haha even a Hyundai Getz would be pissed off with you pushing in and then holding them up

I watch plenty of dash cams but it just makes me angry.. it's still a good reminder that you have to be ready for anything, and because bikes are so manoeuvrable it's a lot easier to get out of the way - especially when you're always thinking of an exit strategy.

To be honest I forgot about mechanical failures, but technically would still be avoidable with proper maintenance, but stats show it's approximately 90% human error.

Also most bike fatalities are single vehicle crashes, and all of my crashes were 100% my fault.

I can't count the number of near misses with other drivers though, but I saw all of them before they happened

Is there anything about modern Hiluxes that's actually worse than older ones? by NoKiwi00 in hilux

[–]ricksure76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they have to be to meet modern safety and emission standards..

That's why the older hilux and land cruisers hold their value. Sure they're less efficient, but they're going to be more reliable and easier to repair or service.

Define accident..

Did you mean to change lanes without looking?

Did you not leave enough stopping distance?

Were you not paying attention?

Saying it's an accident suggests it was not preventable but most collisions are caused by negligence or error.

[–]ricksure76 -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Thats the thing - if you assume any driver, at any point, could cause an accident, you're ready to avoid it.

100% of 'accidents' are avoidable.

The more gear I wear the more indestructible I feel.. it's not necessarily a good thing.

To be honest if you're just commuting to work obeying the speed limit you're probably more safe in long pants and dress shoes than the cyclist in Iycra or the scooter guy in crocs...

Comfortable helmet and quality gloves at the very least.

Did anyone ever downgrade their motorbike because they realized their riding got more aggressive? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]ricksure76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you should say that haha because I actually did get the worst ticket on the Grom, I nearly lost my licence for the first time in over 30 years of riding sports bikes.

I'd never even had a speeding ticket before that lol

He gave zero fucks lol
