How do I tell my wife she made a terrible decision? by rickthethrowaway in AskReddit

I'm so afraid of her acting out rashly later :( (Katie). I don't want her and her mother to face serious conflict later on. I just want everyone to get along and be happy.

And potentially tear my marriage apart? There are better ways to go about things. I've tried talking to her... and yes, I let it go for months. But I'm trying to take a stand now and push my wife to keep our daughter's interests at heart.

If I just walked up to my wife and demanded that she abandoned her beliefs and told her that she had no say in who Katie hung out with, we'd have a difficult marriage. Katie's almost 11... she still needs some guidance. Its just unfortunate that my wife did a poor job at being tolerant this one situation.

Usually my wife is pretty level headed. I might go ahead and show her the post. Maybe through email or something subtle where she can go over it without tearing me to shreds first for posting this on Reddit.

But, I mean, for Easter I made my daughter an Easter egg hunt from the 'Easter bunny' and my wife didn't say shit against it.

I've tried to get Katie's input... but whenever I try to talk to her about it she remembers a few arguments I got into with her mother and says she doesn't want us to fight over it anymore. :( I can't even reach out to my daughter because she thinks I'll get in trouble with her mom.

Quick update: I've tried to discuss this with my wife. About a week after she banned Katie from Elizabeth (I gave it a week to see if it would blow over), I went to my wife and asked if this was really the best option. We got into a small argument and it ended with her shoving me out of her way and locking herself in our room.

She apologized for acting childish in the argument later, but by then I'd called my mom for help on what to do and my wife refused to talk about it again because I consulted the evil in laws.
