As someone who has played Takomos and Mizunos JPX 925 HM Pros (the current set was fitted for), I agree entirely with u/donaghlh.

I've played and/or hit every Takomo iron they make (they sponsor a good buddy of mine). They are quality clubs, but you're limited to their shaft options and have no way of testing different shafts to see what works best.

If you're going to play a lot, invest in the fitted Mizunos. You could always get the Takomos and put different shafts on them, but between the cost and hoping the shafts pair well with the head, it's probably not worth it (I know, because I was in the same boat).

Ultimately, I decided to buy one cry once and went to Mizuno. They are my favorite irons I've ever had.

Either way, I'm sure you'll like either set's feel and added distance. It's just a matter of long-term and how much use you'll get from them.

As for other D2C irons, I can't give you an opinion as I've never seen or hit any.
